Logic people.. logic!!! If masks do not work then why doctors and nurses insist on them? The nurses and doctors are in the presence of sick Covid patients often NOT for 20 minute haircut but for 12 to 24 hours in a row. If masks did not work they all would be sick LONG TIME AGO. |
Look at the bright side: - Isolated case or two. - Happened almost three weeks ago, epidemics weakened by now in many places by a whole lot. - NO NEW cases have been reported to be linked to those two cases: Per CNN Two hairstylists who had coronavirus saw 140 clients. No new infections have been linked to the salon, officials say https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/11/us/missouri-hairstylists-coronavirus-clients-trnd/index.html |

Not sure who you are disagreeing with here. The point is that we can open up gradually as long as people can be responsible enough to take precautions like wearing masks. |
This NYTimes article explains several promising treatments for the "cytokine storm" that COVID sometimes triggers in otherwise healthy people.

New York state has the lowest rate of transmission than any other state in the nation, as of Friday. Pretty amazing how far they have come! Hope for other parts of the uS! 🙏🏻 |
Once virus runs its course, this is what happens. |
Situation has been grim in my southern city (TN) but today we had 10 released from hospital and 253 recovered cases announced. Hoping and praying we're starting to see the end of the worst. ![]() |

But the interesting thing is that about, what? 20%% of New Yorkers have had covid or test positive for antibodies? There is increasing support for the theory that "herd immunity" doesn't require a 60% infection rate (also, see Italy). It also makes me wonder if there is something to the idea that approximately 40% of the population has T-cell immunity through infection from other coronaviruses. New York's high death rate is largely due to doing a lousy (I would say criminally negligent) job of protecting nursing home residents, and other hospital management issues. This was posted on another thread, but this paper has data on death risk by age group. If we focus on protecting the vulnerable, the risk to healthy younger people is low. https://medium.com/wintoncentre/what-have-been-the-fatal-risks-of-covid-particularly-to-children-and-younger-adults-a5cbf7060c49 |
