11s will win NA. 10s and 09s taking Union approach with large rosters. Will be interesting to see how 10s work together between new players, coach and favoritism. 09s are going to turn it around this year with new players and coach. Maybe not playoffs but will certainly improve. 08/07s are going to likely fall off some with USYNT player graduating early but will still be good. 12s could be playoff contender as well. It’s possible 5 age groups make playoffs this year!!!

PF/PDA Blue might have something to say about the 11s like always.

We’ll see. The 11s could be the best team Bethesda has ever had. A few new additions is all they needed.

They have 8-9 trapped players...

Bodes well for the 2012s this fall

The 2012’s coach was disgusting at Coppermine this weekend. Don’t know how anyone can stand to play for that jack***.

Which level? Mls next or second team? What happened?

The coach for the 2012 BSC girls who played in the Coppermine tournament. Charm city super cup. It is unclear how he is still employed at Bethesda. I have a kid on another team but played for BSC back in the day, and that coach is bad news. I looked him up after I saw his antics, and seems like people bring him up concerns about him on this forum often but the higher ups don’t seem to care. My playing career after BSC went pretty far and I’m not a stranger to tough coaches but this one (SC) is reportable (in my opinion).

He’s like a cat with 9 lives. Numerous complaints. He’s been warned multiple times. He told the 2012 parents late last spring he’d be nicer to the girls. That didn’t even last the first games of the season. He’s emotionally unstable and a loose cannon and yes someone should do something about it.

He got parents to write him letters in support last year, so he’s managing to keep enough parents happy.

SC continues to coach all 3 BSC teams from previous years because the players and parents want him as their coach. Nobody fires a coach because the randos on the forum don't like him. People complain but in the end they choose what benefits them the most. And if coach's personality is not on the top of your list, you learn to tolerate it and focus on the rest.

Some like him but it’s also true some just kind of follow along other parents out of peer pressure/follow the heard, fear of retaliation, or stardom dreams. He’s also has mea culpa moments, apologizes, then does the same thing. It’s not like these parents and girls all love him all the time.

To say it’s just randos on a forum re SC isn’t entirely accurate with the numerous girls/parents who have played for him and all the people who have seen him at games. This includes opposing coaches and parents. Sure it’s an anonymous forum but there’s countless eyewitnesses and some stuff on Veo. There should be “red lines” on what’s inappropriate for coaching children—full stop.

But, in the end, I also agree it’s largely an individual decision of whether to play for him. His antics are well known and of course returning players have seen it firsthand. While many of us lines are crossed that really aren’t up for debate, people still choose to play for him.

All the coaches on the Girls pre-ECNL and ECNL side are like this so his behavior is not seen as extreme. As long as he gets his 18 registrations for each team he is coaching he will continue to coach even if it means just moving to another state and starting over with a former player you are now dating. Thats crazy talk never happens BSC is far classier than that

SC is tame compared to a lot of the NA ECNL coaches.

Another random NA ECNL parent

Just saw the 2012 and 2013’s G play. They have improved drastically since SC took over the team. Didn’t think the yelling was out of the way, all coaches do that.

If there a reason the 2014 girls are struggling? Is it just a dead year for the club?

So, a dead year is defined as 11 years not dominating the competition?

Is there any room for development?

You actually don’t reach your peak by being the best.

The SYC 2014 boys will wipe away all competition for the next 3 years. Let’s gauge where they are individually in 6 and we how the “developmental” process was for them.

Agreed. Everyone talks about development. Sometimes developing properly means losing in the short term. Also the 2014 girls were struggling in prior years, not a ton of depth but a lot of talent there

Interestingly enough, the 2014 girls is the one great team Potomac has ... wonder how well it will do next year since GA Aspire is not as good as ECNL

For those who have seen the new indoor facility, what do you think?

Does this make Bethesda stand out, or are indoor facilities the new norm? Rumor has it MSI is building its own indoor facility. How common is this for other clubs in the DMV?

Honestly, pretty amazing. Bethesda is the only club I have seen that talks about the Long-Term Development model and one of the benefits to the new space is an in-house PT and conditioning team.

I came to BSC for a few coaches I trust but the facility is a bonus perk. I appreciate the guidance on the supplement stuff that matters in the long term that we learned at the open house yesterday.

Similar to SoFive but without the bar 😞

But the PT and conditioning isn’t free, right? You still have to pay like everyone else. So not sure of the benefit.

Inaccurate. Conditioning in part of the program. PT is not.

Physical assessments of every player is part of the program as well. This is the first time I have seen a club roll out this level of data and a very powerful tool if a parent knows how to use it.

Are you a paid hater designed to try to take BSC down? Let people make their own decisions on what they want. The facility is no magic pill but it is more than I have seen any other program do.
