2 years into your degree, you could be kicked out for “conduct unbecoming a Harvard student.” Also, a couple of years ago, a bunch of admits got rescinded for posting racist memes on a Facebook page. So it’s not a new rule and there’s recent precedent for this kind of penalty. After you graduate, nothing much they can do. You probably get elected to Congress.

The fact that you aren’t going to be able to enforce a rule in every single instance where it has been violated doesn’t mean you don’t have rules.

the only difference here is that someone ratted him out. This ratting out was done with political motivations. If he had the same ideology as David Hogg this stuff would have never been reported

Although I think Harvard did the right thing, and also that this kid has a screw loose if his reaction after seeing 35 students and teachers getting gunned down was to advocate against stricter gun laws, I wonder what his life will be like now that he has been so publicly shamed. The dude’s conservative views were well known when he was admitted. Indeed, his activism was probably WHY he was admitted. What they didn’t know was that he was a racist. The decision to rescind was not driven by his politics.
