My bad, I meant Indiana (was their home, which is also an equitable state) and they moved from N. Carolina, which is an "equitable state"... sorry. |
The seemed to move around quite a bit. They met in Indiana, moved to South Carolina, then recently moved to DE in the fall for his new job at the University of Delaware. That's where he met the OW. They both seemed to separate from their respective spouses at the same time, indicating that the affair probably began when both were married. There's been no indication of the Gerardot's living arrangements - it's unclear if they were still living in the same household. |
He's going to change his name, get married to another cute mid 30-something professional, and start a family. Furthermore, he gets all of his dead wife's assets tax-free and widower's Social Security benefits. The guy is getting everything. This guy will have a great life. Meanwhile, the families of these two women will forever be in agony. |
In the Carolinas you can't live together while separated. in Delaware you CAN live together while separated. |
The murderer's family will sue for her assets. The innocent dude (the OW's H) will get everything. |
Exactly. |
Yes, from the timeline, it seems like they moved to DE in December for him to start his job at the U of D, he met the AP there and started an affair and they both decided to leave their spouses for each other around 2 months later, in February. My guess is that she quit her job at the U of D and moved to her new job because of the crap that would ensue if they both kept working at U of D together. Just like my co-worker who had an affair with her boss and got pregnant. She changed jobs before it went public. I wonder if it will come out that the AP was pregnant with his baby... |
Eh, they were married 25 years and moved twice. |
He looks like the Trivago guy. |
| Let's face it, if the people involved in this case lived in a double-wide, there would not be 15 pages on this. Because they are educated and "just like us", it has everyone speculating. |
She should have willed everything to charity first. |
You're right about it being on DCUM, but either either way this ends up as an episode of Snapped. |
She was legally married, it goes to him first. |
I don’t think that’s necessarily the case, I read an article by a psychologist about how unusual this was, with her killing the other woman and herself and leaving her husband alive. It doesn’t fit the usual profile at all and is very rare. I’ll see if I can find it again and post the link. |
In one of the articles I read about it, the police said they didn't think the murderer intended to kill herself when she went in to murder the other woman that day. She had a wig and other disguises with her. If that's the case, then something changed after she went in. Perhaps she got scared of getting caught and then killed herself - probably better than spending the rest of your life in prison! |
