Fairfax County GT/AAP Appeals.

I just spoke with her and emailed her the info. She said that she can tell pretty quickly if an appeal is worthwhile. Worth $375 to know, IMO.

Yeah, I called too and am seeing her this week. She said my daughter's GBRS did not co-relate with her score and that could have tilted the balance. Am going to appeal for what its worth. Ive come this far. We doing Stanford Binet, coz we took WISC earlier and only coz we couldnt get the shcool to give her Cogat 3 (long story)

Did you ask her lots of questions on what was good/bad in your profile, or did she just tell you what she thought? Not sure how much to ask the psychologists on the process. We are doing Stanford too.

Yes, she was quite consice and asked me a ton of relevant questions on scores and then I sent her all the details and she emailed me with what she thought was off. In our case it was the GBRS - and offered to do the stanford binet ($450) and then let me know if it was worth appealing. Am doing it coz I would at least have the satisfaction of knowing.

We used Dr. Dahlgren last year and loved her. She's great with kids and has 15+ years of experience with Fairfax AAP. She's seen it all. You are in good hands.

We had high NNAT,low FxAT, high GBRS and not in. So, getting WISC IV.

I've used Family First for testing twice and been very pleased with the experience, but it wasn't for purposes of an appeal. If you're looking for an opinion on the appeals process and don't feel confident with the person you spoke with at FF, try someone else.

Thank you

If it's okay to tell here, did it work out for you? The appeal and your child make it?

Yes, my child made it in on appeal with Dr. Dahlgren's excellent assistance. Good luck to you and yours.

Did she give any other advice than just to submit the test scores? I guess she would give a write-up and you have the test scores. But would there be anything else she could say?

Can high WISC override low Fxat in an appeal?

It's hard to say since this is the first year of the FxAT, but it sounds like it has in the past.
