Should I report my neighbors for car tax evasion?

One has a car with Wisconsin plates. One with California plates. I suppose they could be exempt but we live in Western Loudoun so I doubt they work on the Hill or are in the military.

I ended up behind the car with California plates today at a stop sign as we both pulled out of our driveways at the same time. The plates expired in June 2024.

I am normally a live and let live person, but tax avoidance costs everyone more. Would you report this if you were in my shoes? I am trying to decide…

Yes. They need to be responsible.

What if they have ADHD?

I really hope that you are being sarcastic. When everyone has ADHD, no one has ADHD.

I was going to ask, are they military?

It is highly unlikely they're military given where we live. There are no military facilities near us.

Sure, if you value your time and energy that low, proceed.

They will start watching you like a hawk for any violations and reporting you. Argument with your spouse or kids? Police at your door for safety check. An unapproved (by HOA) item in your backyard? Reported. Friends over for an evening of (loud) conversation on your back deck? Call the police for noise complaint. Your young kids playing outside without supervision? Call the police. What goes around come back around, OP. You might have this neighbor. Do you want to find out? Just mind your own business. If they drive those cars, they'll get caught eventually.

Not op. You are a ridiculous drama queen.

When I lived in Burke Centre in FFX years ago, we had enough military retirees that this kind of stuff would be reported in 5 minutes. I've moved to Loudoun and can't even find how to report it. I have a neighbor who has an unregistered car with no tags that has been sitting in his driveway for probably 6 years. He also parked a car on the street with no registration etc. What can I do about it?

None of that concerns me, although you really have an active imagination. Maybe see a mental health professional for your dysfunctional thought processes.

100%. This is such a deranged post.

Another time my then boyfriend was parking in the street in front of my house a lot. He lived in MD and he got a ticket and had to prove to DC he lived in MD and get some ROSA exemption to park frequently (legally- overnight had no permit restrictions). I had a busy body neighbor, and I bet she reported him.

I'm all for reporting them even though I had a nasty neighbor pull something similar to this on me. I had just given birth to premature twins, my neighbors knew, and my mom came from out of state and stayed with us for 3 weeks. The nutjob azzhat across the street from us who had met my mom, reported her car and called the police to say it was stolen. We didn't really have to do anything. He tried and failed. He's a vile person.

After we moved to Loudoun, we forgot to register our 3rd beater car. We drove it occasionally and never got ticketed. We were stunned when we realized it. In Fairfax we saw people being ticketed all the time.
