We don't need to protest but I do wish elected Dems were actually talking about the terrible things he's already doing. I understand that I feel beaten, beleaguered, and ready for people to simply experience the consequences of what they asked for. But I do think that elected Dems have SOME responsibility to, you know, communicate effectively.

I think the combo of him actually winning, winning the popular vote, and being forced to go through this all again, is just too much. I'm just hunkering down trying to survive and stay sane this time. I don't have it in me to do anything else.

Some Dems are but I agree they should be doing more of it. EVERY SINGLE DAY. T

Amen, PP.

Where are the 2028 hopefuls? Why aren't they using this moment - THIS MOMENT - to build their platforms and show that they can be the one to lead us out of this horror?

Unless all the naysayers were/are right and all the hopefulls just suck. Maybe there isn't a one who is going to rise up when we need them.

The dems will roll out the same “moderates” who will talk about “working across the aisle” and “the traditions of the senate”. When elected they will attack the progressives and vote with the republicans.

I'm the PP and I'm a moderate! I despise most of the progressives - something I only admit anonymously. I don't mind them reaching across the aisle!

But why isn't any 2028 contender talking right now about bird flu, eggs, the alcoholic moron they're going to install as defense secretary? Why aren't they talking about drug prices going up?

How about Trump promising to dismantle FEMA as the fires are raging in California - which I believe I heard correctly has more Republicans than any other state in the country! Is that supposed to go over well in Florida? North Carolina? Louisiana? Texas?

There are a hundred things to be talking about right now - and outside of Chris Murphy (yes, pp, good call - I like him, too) I feel like Dems are just not communicating.

Anyway - I'm worn out. I'm scared and exhausted. I'm not protesting because this is what people voted for - they ran toward this moron again, and what am I supposed to do about it?

Talking about it right now isn't going to change any of it. It'd be preaching to the proverbial choir; the people who need to understand that message are too busy waving/wearing the flag and celebrating Trump's "triumphant" return.

Those issues will talk for themselves in about 6 months. It won't be political posturing at that point, it'll be hard facts with evidence. And the redhat types will still probably ignore; the were never much for science, logic and reason to begin with. But the proof will publicize itself.

You really don't need to do anything about it. Just watch.

This is me exactly and how so many of my Democratic friends feel. We are wealthy enough that we'll benefit from his tax policies. The other asinine policies he puts in place won't harm us. If drug prices raise, eh, no biggie. I can afford it.

But you know who can't? My Maga relatives in WV who are poor. My Maga relatives who had to crowd-source funds to buy insulin in the past. My Maga relatives, who have believed the lies of and voted for every Republican since they were old enough to vote, who relied on me to pay for them to attend family vacations. My Maga relatives who post publicly about kicking everyone off government assistance while privately asking me for money to cover their rent, utilities, buy their kid's gifts, etc.

I did a lot and gave a lot leading up to the election. I campaigned non-stop for Harris. And frankly, I just don't care now. I'm exhausted. Trying to get them to see the error of their ways and proof of Trump's lies is like screaming at a brick wall. It's totally useless. So, let it all burn down. I'll get richer. They'll get poorer. Maybe they'll learn. Let's hope they learn. If not, I'll still be wealthy enough to where nothing the orange bozo does will hurt me.

But the Bank of Me is closed. I'll still send gifts to their kids on their birthdays, but that's it. I'm not paying their rents and mortgages. I'm not flying everyone for spring break and summer vacation. I'm done.

This. We finally realize MAGA is a cult and no amount of reasoning is going to help. Their wake up is going to hurt.

I agree with all of the above but I do worry that a lot of those voters are also prime targets for the redistributionist progressive extreme of the Democratic Party. There were a lot of working class Bernie voters who then became Trump voters. I worry that we will become South America---as soon as a charismatic leftist populist comes along (thinking of Venezuela) who convinces all the now disaffected Trump voters that radical left policies will save them, the pendulum will swing in the opposite, but equally destructive, direction. A robust middle class (which has been hollowed out in the US over the last 40 years) is essential to democratic stability.

Maybe you're right. I hope you're right.

Yet they keep hurting this by making basic goods too expensive. Cars, appliances.
And they want to cut back on the suburbs, and put people in smaller apartments instead.

This is how most of the planet does it. Having a big house and big yard just for one family is quite uncommon in the rest of the world.

I live in a blue state and the amount of “I don’t like Trump but…” comments I have heard are insane.

I know maybe three who think that and they are in the billionaire category. Everyone else - not secretly happy.

I’m in California and I’ve heard it multiple times. I do not think you understand the white-hot rage people feel towards the Democrats right now, right after the fires.

There are no protests here in California for a reason.

How are Democrats responsible for the fires?

PP here. They aren’t responsible for the fires. They are responsible for the preparation and response to the fires. And people are absolutely furious.

Haitians doing jobs American liberals won't do.

I'm not going back to Haiti! F- Trump, you feel me? Yo, Biden forever, bro! Thank Obama, for everything he did for me, bro!

There are things that he is trying to do that shouldn't be controversial on both sides - like ending lowering drug prices. I think it's time to start speaking up and protesting again! Just silently rolling our eyes isn't helping.

Because even long time liberal democrats like me, now support Trump!

Well, they are responsible for the California criminal justice system and housing systems as well, and some of the people arrested for arson already have been homeless and had prior arrests (for example Jose Carranza-Escobar). In sanctuary cities that policy is also relevant. Juan Manuel Sierra-Leyva was arrested for trying to start fires with a blowtorch and is an illegal immogrant.

Say more. I've heard nothing like this.

We will shop for food at the farmer's market and stores whose policies align with our values.

Time to to also spend less time in front of screens anyway, and more time in nature. Our money will be mostly directed towards international travel.

Clearly, the only thing that really matter is money and I intend to use it accordingly.

Oh, but you loved Silicon valley when they were censoring, shadow banning, banning accounts and killing off speech for your cause. But you can't see it, can you?

OMG YES!!!!! YES YES YES!!!!!!

You LOVED big tech and big social media back then, when it was suppressing the people you didn’t like.

But NOW, now it’s a problem.

Ick. Just go away, Dems. Go away.

DP. I've hated them all, all along.

If you don’t get it, I can’t explain it to you. And I do go to work (hybrid schedule) but 5x a week in office is life changing.
