We are going to see it again over winter break. |
She was on Broadway as a teenager, in 13, but I'd love for her to go back. She was great. |
Anyone else surprised on plot points?
I had listened to the soundtrack a bunch over the years, but I guess just focused on the main songs since I was surprised to find out about the whole animal plot. I didn't realize that was the cause of the rift. Also I always thought "dancing through life"was a fine song, nothing spectacular to listen to, but loved it in the movie and I think it'll be a favorite. Great choreography! |
The plot of the musical has never made much sense. It's a mashup of disparate elements from the Baum books, the movie, the Maguire book, and some other stuff. And even though the movie spends much more time on the Act I storyline, I think it still has too little character development. |
I would have liked a little more character development to support that fast transition from enemy to BFF. But to give credit, there were hints that the two main characters understood each other better than the people around them |
The book and musical are SOOO different there is no point comparing them. It’s like comparing Rocky Horror Picture Show and Psycho. |
I’ve never seen a film version of a musical that I loved as much as the theatre version. Maybe just because there’s nothing like seeing a performance live. I’ve seen Wicked on stage 5 times! Twice in London and Toronto, once in NYC. What do fans of the musical think of the movie? |
pedantic much |
Have you read any of the replies? It’s a hit! |
I haven’t seen any replies from people who have seen the musical multiple times. |
I’ve seen the Musical multiple times and I wrote that it felt a bit bloated and that I feel like a number of the songs that they lengthened and added in dialogue in the middle of lost their drama and momentum, but I still overall enjoyed it. It also bothers me that they didn’t auto tune or re-record to keep everyone on pitch, something that they obviously can’t do on stage. |
My point stands. You haven’t read the entire thread. There are lots of people who have seen the stage play and now the movie who have weighed in here. |
OK thanks. Did you love the movie as much as the theatre version? It sounds like no? If the movie version is as spectacular as the theatre version, I'd go see it on a big screen. If not then I'd wait for the Blu-ray. |
You want auto tune?? |
OK. This is helpful because I think the people who are wowed by the movie aren't mega fans of live musical. |
