| Yes. Great grand parents had estates. Very low key to be able to I spend time as i wish. There is no need to attract opportunists and tiring social climbers. |
| I view myself as neither low key nor flaunting - these are not things I generally care about other than when it may hurt a person's feelings or I feel it might have a negative social impact (weird competitiveness, people feeling indirectly controlled, or generally contexts in which being mindful of not presenting as wealthy is appropriate/helpful). By all reasonable accounts I'm rich ($20 million+ net worth) but not mega-wealthy. Generally, subject to the above, I just live my life. I'm not on social media, so no posting there. And I certainly don't go out of my way to mention costly homes/trips/activities to people not involved in them, but I'd think that's just part of general human judgment. I also don't try to take extreme efforts hide my wealth as some people I know seem to try to. Like most people, I assume, I for the most part just live my life. |
| i drive a beater but have a fat brokerage account. live in an unassuming townhouse. but i wear an Omega or a IWC on the daily, even for groceries |
LOL. What a weird thing to say bud. Omega is a wealth indicator? I have one in my drawer somewhere. I guess I should wear it too. |
its all good, im not trying to one up anyone. im aware this thread has people with 10m or so net worth. but im very aware that i am grocery shopping with a watch that cost me $8k USD on my wrist, its a weird feeling. most people think an apple watch is expensive, and thats like 300 bucks. for most people, spending more than $500 on a watch is rich person territory. i personally think my two watches (yes, i only have 2, sue me) are fairly low key, they look pretty normal to the unitiated |
all good indeed. whatever works for you. |
seems like you're upset that i said my watches are related to wealth and the topic of this thread. do you disagree that a $8k watch is not an indicator of wealth, at least for 95% of the population? |
no you misread my intention. i thought your post was funny (but not in a bad way). i meant "all good" sincerely. sorry for misunderstanding |
Huh? Women regularly wear engagement rings worth $100K-250K+ grocery shopping. You think $8K is impressive…? |
LOL, "regularly"? You need a reality check. |
+1 |

Private except on here when I get mad at MAGA.
No one would know my wealth we keep our cars, live in an unassuming home (no one knows we have multiple), I wear hoodies and sweats almost everyday or jeans. No fancy jewelry why would I buy something that is not a good investment? Money can make life easier but it doesn't make you a nice person or a good human clearly. |
I remember someone in my grad school saying that about a kid whose dad was CFO at proctor and gamble….always stuck with me that it’s all relative. |
Women do not regularly do this. You’re like Lucille Bluth thinking a banana costs $10. Scoffing at an $8K watch makes you sound stupid. |
Yeah income of $1M is only 600K take home (or less if you live in Maryland!). If they are paying nanny and mortgage and student loans and cleaning people because they work 60 hours a week. And just only recently went up to $[M, I can understand that they might only be at 4M saving. For all you know, they just finished grad school 2 years ago. |
