Any safety loving resident, anyone attempting to raise a family in DC, or anyone who cares about your property value needs to donate what you can to this recall effort. We don’t live in Ward 6, but we still donated. There’s not much time left to fix this.

Ok, MAGA.

Nah, this is primarily D on D violence. Maybe a few moderate Rs thrown in. It reminds me a lot of Godfather II. Charles Allen (Fredo) is off in distant Tahoe (DC Council) with a no show job. The NYC Corleones (national Democrats) don’t pay attention to him because he’s dumb, but harmless. Then they realize Fredo is costing them millions and putting their lives at risk. So they visit him and go for a ride in a row boat (recall).

South Park episode. I’m telling you.

I’m an immigrant and I never understood what the term “punchable face” meant until I met this guy. I mean it’s just… there and kind of smug and miserly and contemptuous at the same time

It's the face of a man who wants child rapists to go free.

This. I called this in to his office four years ago and his aide lectured me from the talking points. Yes, it is the face of a man who has empathy for the rapist.

I should say, the convicted rapist. ^

Sorry but what's the background behind all that convicted rapist chatter?

You don't really have representation on the Council. They don't care about you other than for how much they can turn you upside and shake you for tax dollars. Convicted child rapists, on the other hand, are prized citizens.

Huh? Great talking point, but care to explain?

1. Decriminalized illegal street vending.
2. Lower penalties for carjacking.
3. Increase age of adulthood to 25.
4. Legalize marijuana.
5. Restrict police pursuits.
6. Ban jump outs.
7. Get rid of bait car unit.

This Council is pro criminal. Sane residents are sick of this crap.

1. Nadeau's idea and supported even by the moderates on Council.
4. This marijuana morass can't be blamed on council but can be blamed on GOP Rep. Andy Harris and his budget rider attempting to restrict the implementation of Initiative 71, which District voters heavily supported.
5. The ban on car chases goes back many, many years after the death of a girl on Wisconsin Ave in Tenleytown due to a police chase.
6. Even the police reform commission wanted to get rid of these.

Don’t care. He’s a goner.
The first domino to topple.

I will enjoy it when he gets a taste of his own medicine. When he tries to reason, explain and people don’t listen nor care because we’ve already made up our minds.

The only thing better would involve ATVs

If you don't live in Ward 6, this sounds like fraud. Can we get the government to freeze these accounts?

This person's mind is gonna explode when he sees how much money JLG has raised from people who don't live in Ward 4 (or don't even live in DC at all).

DP: It's obviously legit money, but it doesn't correlate to support in his actual Ward, which is where the signatures will need to come from in order to proceed with the recall. We know this money is mostly coming from GOP ops so we have to see what happens next.

It's hilarious that you think the DC branch of the Republican Party is adept enough to pull this off.

I feel like people are just looking for a scapegoat instead of trying to formulate a real plan to get us out of this mess. There are a lot of people who messed up to get us here, and just removing one isn’t going to do anything. What’s the real plan here???

Nope, he’s a goner. Nice try Charles

Once we get Allen, the rest of the Council can change their ways or know they are next.

Even the police reform commission? The Justice Lab mouthpiece? They were more delusional than the Council.

I do not think Charles Allen is to entirely blame for the current issues. I think we are dealing with a confluence of issues, exacerbated by the pandemic and made harder to address by the movement to "defund the police," and while I think some of what Allen did with the crime bill contributed to making it worse, I don't think he's the source of the issues.

But I also think he is wholly unqualified to address the current issues and has shown time and again he will not rise to the occasion, so I support a recall because we need people who will meet the moment, before DC slides back into the situation it was in 20 years ago. We have made too much progress to just let it slip away.

I also want Bowser out and would like to see Nadeau and Mendo gone. But not replaced by people like Robert White or Erin Palmer, who ran against them in the last election. White and Palmer are a lot like Allen -- well meaning but unprepared and too afraid to do (or say) what needs to be done.

We need to stop trying to placate people by pretending all crime is just the result of poverty and racism. Did you know there are poor people and black people who don't commit violent crimes? In fact, they are much more likely to be the victim of crime. Why don't we care about them?

I can't wait until Charles Allen chills, gets the recall summarily dismissed in court, then puts you all on notice that he's going to keep doing what he does best. He knows he wins in DC because he does what his constituents want, at least the constituents that vote.
Anonymous
Home Rule, baby. Let him be known as the man who screwed DC out of autonomy.

I hold him in the same regard as Ted Cruz and such stars.

Bowser disbanded the jump out squad. That was all her and Kathy Lanier.

It terrifies me that you think this philosophy is problematic
