I'm just quoting progressives. |
Statistics are racist. Using anti-racist math and other ways of knowing, DC has the lowest murder rate in the US. |
| What if anything is the city council doing to hire more police officers now? |
I would like to see more, and I would like to see them out and about. If you don't want them in your neighborhood, send them to mine! |
That would be disproportionate policing. Since every ward should have the same policing and a visible police presence is intimidating to some groups, no ward can have visible police presence. Are you not in favor of equality and equity? |
|
The bigger problem is the low prosecution rate by fed appointed USAO, elected AG and lax sentencing (and lack of pretrial detention when warranted) by fed appointed DC Superior Court judges. At this point, more cops would just lead to more catch and release, the core problems are upstream.
The Congressional Committee that oversees DC has had hearings and private meeting w/mayor and others, time for the Committee who oversees DOJ to get involved. |
Mendelson lied under oath and said their is no crime crisis in DC. |
You would first need to define crime, crisis, and crime crisis. |
Exactly. Nothing can be fixed until progressives start living in the real world instead of the land of make believe. |
Lmao ok |
Social justice at work. “The ends justify the means.” DC: just face the facts and give up already. Even if you vote out Mendelson, DC will only ever elect democrats, and they will undoubtedly be “social justice” democrats, who back the same policies we now have. You are not going to change anything back to the way it was. No one is going to “get tough on crime.” Not in DC. |
|
There is no voting Mendo out until Jan 2027 at best. He was just re-elected, as were Allen and Nadeau and Frumin was just elected. None are going anywhere any time soon. https://ballotpedia.org/Phil_Mendelson
Terms on the Council are staggered so they can't all be voted out at once. Of great importance is the fact that no one but JLG has a credible, electable challenger who is willing to be tougher on crime. Unless more such people come forward, any talk of "voting" is meaningless. |
The recall process for those elected in 2022 can begin Jan. 1, and organized campaigns are already making plans (especially WRT Allen and Nadeau). |
Unlikely to be successful and then you are STILL left with the issue of credible electable candidates to replace. Better to focus on such challengers for those up next cycle who are running, like JLG, and those, like Gray, who will not be running. There you have a tremendous chance of success. People don't want to do the hard work of identifying or stepping up as an electable candidate with more reasonable views on crime. Just want to tilt at windmills. No commitment to practical hard work. It's why nothing ever changes. Lisa Gore may change W4, now we need more of her. |
No. Defund the police. #BlackLivesMatter |
