What happens if FCPS isn't staffed by the first day of school?

PP who applied for several FCPS admin type jobs that closed 8/15.

I’ve heard nothing. Even more jobs opened since then so applying for these as well.

Feel like experimenting and applying for custodial and IA jobs just to see if I get a response.

Yes. My FB feed is full of principals and other school based personnel begging for teachers, IAs, and long term subs. One of my children has two teacher trainees in core academic subjects this year. I'm glad my older child never throws anything away because I have a feeling we're going to be looking at material from years past in order to supplement at home.

My kids ES is full with only three new teachers and no teacher trainees.

How do you know this? My child's school has a few new staff members but I have no idea how much experience they have.

FCPS will "pull off a first day"-but at the detriment of school staff/teachers which will in turn impact FCPS students. Parents will be like oh everything is great and FCPS will continue to lose staff in this vicious cycle.

You should be able to look at the staff directory. Our school lists ”teacher trainee” by the name

This is school specific. Some do not list teacher trainees as such.

Yup and we all know why.

This is not school specific. FCPS central office processes employees and inputs their titles.

Schools do not control how staff members are listed on the school website. That is done centrally with an upload from
Human Resources. So there’s no “fudging” the descriptor on the staff directory.

You and the PP are incorrect.

They don’t know that. They’re making some guesses or they’re being contrarian on purpose.

A school-based person who was in the process to possibly get a central office job was told that pretty much all hiring that’s not directly instructional is on the back burner right now.
