Glenn Youngkin is a ghoul and shame on y'all who voted for him.You knew who he was.

If that's the case, this is really serious. Brain swelling has a high rate of fatality and permanent damage to cognition.

Poor Speaker Pelosi and her family going through this. What a nightmare.

Police come in and see the assailant hit Paul Pelosi with the hammer as they come into the house. (source John Miller on CNN)

Paul Pelosi is currently in brain surgery

What type of brain surgery? What are they repairing?

Where is the rest of the GOP? This should be the tone coming from everyone on the Republican side.

Even he, retiring, has to both sides this, huh? I’m mad as hell that the GOP is fascist. I have never once called for, suggested or condoned violence against Republicans. I have never giggled about or made jokes about political violence. I have never voted for or financially supported any candidate who commit stochastic terrorism and I am sick to death of Republicans unable to come to terms with the fact that they are the ones raising the temperature.

Exactly. Very well stated. There really is only one side stoking this crap, and it ain't the left. It's just not.

I’m glad he will recover fully, but a hammer is a pretty heavy blunt instrument and when hit in the head with it, even a small blow will do serious damage. Was he taken into surgery with a broken skull, etc?

I’d like more details.

I read that Pelosi had the hammer, and this guy took it from him. Perhaps it was a small hammer that he was carrying at his age, though even these would be deadly. Or maybe the guy wielded it like a baseball bat.

So the guy came in unarmed?

Look upthread. CNN reporting he arrived with the hammer and used it to break in.

He must not have been able to find a gavel.

There’s no benign brain surgery. This is not great.

The police showed up.
How did they know? I hear they were there very quickly

Alarm system + 911 call. After all, they live in Pacific Heights, not some remote exurb.

He’s undergoing brain surgery now, yes.

Will he make a full recovery?

He is 80 years old, hit in the head with a hammer multiple times. I seriously doubt a 20 year old would make a full recovery. The cop came and that is when the guy hit him.

The man is 82 years old. No idea whether he was in good health. But brain surgery is dicey under any circumstances. No wonder the perpetrator has been charged with attempted murder. This is appalling and inexcusable for any politician to egg on violence of this sort.

When oh when will the roosters come home to roost!

Another “Christian” showing us time after time exactly what values they stand for.

It's a shame, especially after the recent footage was released when you could hear Speaker Pelosi expressing care and concern for Pence during the 1/6 insurreciton, that so many people are making jokes, cheers, and gleeful comments that this happened. From randos on social media, to elected officials, it's quite disgusting and disappointing that they can't just say well wishes and keep their mouths closed when the garbage tries to come out. Even disingenuous thoughts and prayers are better than this nastiness. It's also disconcerting to think that this is them being restrained and respectful (or their version of it) in the immediate aftermath, and that it's probably going to escalate.

I think you will have to await a statement from the medical team. He’s in his 80s and there has to be a concern about swelling and clotting leading to other long term health complications.

I think the media has been saying he will make a full recovery per the medical team.

Given the fact that the GOP keeps trying to kill Nancy Pelosi, that house is probably alarmed to the gills.

Someone said earlier that was not the case?

Again that statement appears to have been made prior to the surgery.

They are actively trying to get Democratic leaders killed. This is just beyond disgusting. Losers are trying to joke about it on here, too (thankfully Jeff is deleting).
