This “dad” sounds like a crap parent and person all-around.

He is the breadwinner, he probably doesn’t deal much with the kids day to day and didn’t really understand the logistics about dealing with a severe allergy.

I think going back and yelling is understandable, it was the throwing and immigrant remarks that reveal his true nature that are problematic. Did he tell them his son was in the hospital, that would have garnered sympathy from a bunch of teenage girls I’m sure.

Those saying a smoothie is not assault, it could have easily damaged her eyes, it was aimed at her face.

Oh F off with your “he’s the breadwinner so he doesn’t know how to take care of his kid and their allergy”. That’s bs and misogynistic and you know it. You are part of the problem.

His child went into anaphylactic shock and had to be rushed to the ER because they ignored his instructions not to put peanut butter in the smoothie.

Incorrect. They left the peanut butter out of the smoothie as per his instructions. He said nothing about a deadly peanut allergy, so they didn’t clean out the blender from the last smoothie with peanut butter they made. Really $hitty parenting on his part, he doesn’t know how to deal w his own kids allergy

+1 My son has a nut allergy. It is not enough to say no nuts. You have to tell them it's due to an allergy. Every parent of an allergic kid knows this.

My reaction when reading this was that this is a guy who never orders food for his kid and didn't know he was supposed to tell them about the allergy.

Ding, ding, ding - we have a winner. He just said no peanut butter, not that his kid had an allergy. There is a completely different procedure when dealing with an allergy. He doesn't spend enough time with his kid to know this. So now his wife is SUPER pissed, he's pissed and feels guilty, so he runs back up to the store in high dudgeon. When they don't cow to him (hmmm, I wonder why) it escalated. Oh, well.

If the allergy is that severe, why would you ever risk ordering something like a fast-food smoothie from a teen anyway even if you explain the allergy? Not a smart move.

NP. Just watched it for the first time. What a gross pig this guy is. You can tell he’s used to people kowtowing to him.

I can’t help but think this would be getting a lot more attention in the news if he were a woman.

Oooh not surprised at all. I previously worked in wealth management at a ML competitor: racists, sexual harassers, scammers, and the insane all have a home in that industry.

That is not true. Not sure why you are defending this POS

What happened is pretty obvious -

The guy didn't believe his DS had a nut allergy, he thought his wife was just being over protective and coddling her DS
He figured he would just leave out the peanut butter so his DS didn't say anything to his wife about having peanuts and he didn't have to deal with her
DS had a reaction because he is allergic to peanuts
The guy had an oh crap moment had had panicked making him feel feel scared and like an idiot
His response to fear is anger
He knew it was his fault and his wife was going to blame him
So he went back and blamed someone else becuase that usually works for him
He expected them to be over apologetic like what happens when he at work
That didn't happen and he got more and more angry because he couldn't control the situation
He freaked out.

Or he told the minimum wage teenage girl working in the smoothy shop in January in Connecticut his son had a peanut allergy and they just put a big scoop of peanut butter in the smoothy because…they felt like it.

No way. Younger people are much more aware of allergies and no one would decide to put pb in a smoothie when they were told about an allergy. This dude just said “no peanut butter”, with no reason, and they made it without the peanut butter but probably in a blender than had been barely rinsed and had pb in it from the prior smoothie.

+1

Even a dad that’s not around often (unlikely, given his former line of work) knows not to put his kids in danger if they have a life-threatening illness.

“Work through their trauma”?

AYFKM?

This is one of the things that’s wrong with this country. Assuming that people are so fragile they’d be scarred by a shouting match with some a-hole. Life is FULL of jerks like that. If people sought therapy every time they encountered one, they’d never have time to do anything else.

The Russians and Chinese are doubled over in laughter at how soft this country is becoming. It’s shameful.

Yup.

Reddit says it had peanuts in it, which his son is allergic too. So probably a mixed up order.

We have a peanut allergy in family, I can definitely see getting upset about a mix up if my son drank it and felt sick, but these things do happen.

If my child had a peanut allergy, I wouldn't buy him a smoothie from a place known to have lots of nuts and lots of blenders. Or I would taste it myself before I gave it to him. And if, per chance my child did get sick, I would stay with him and make sure his reaction didn't get worse and/or take him to the hospital rather than screaming at a bunch of minimum-wage earning teenage girls.

What a horrible human being.

Why isn't anyone pointing out that the kid ordered a smoothie that normally uses PB? That seems really dangerous in itself! What if the maker didn't read the notes???
