What happened is pretty obvious -

The guy didn't believe his DS had a nut allergy, he thought his wife was just being over protective and coddling her DS
He figured he would just leave out the peanut butter so his DS didn't say anything to his wife about having peanuts and he didn't have to deal with her
DS had a reaction because he is allergic to peanuts
The guy had an oh crap moment had had panicked making him feel feel scared and like an idiot
His response to fear is anger
He knew it was his fault and his wife was going to blame him 
So he went back and blamed someone else becuase that usually works for him
He expected them to be over apologetic like what happens when he at work
That didn't happen and he got more and more angry because he couldn't control the situation
He freaked out.

Or he told the minimum wage teenage girl working in the smoothy shop in January in Connecticut his son had a peanut allergy and they just put a big scoop of peanut butter in the smoothy because…they felt like it.[/quote]
