Only one is grit and substance from a swing state. VP Dennings it is.

I much prefer Demings to Harris, hope she's the pick.

Esp if she helps win Florida

I like Harris but it does seem like people have already made up their minds about her. Demings is sort of a fresh slate, and that might be best.

Harris appeals primarily to the coastal elite, which is not a needed demographic. Biden's got them and they'll vote blue regardless. Demings would be a more effective bridge candidate to independents and the middle of the country, as well as Florida and the south. Hopefully she'll be more cogent about policy than Harris was during her presidential campaign and they have exactly the same amount of congressional experience. Progressives won't like her but only Warren and Baldwin had a chance of appealing to them, and many wouldn't vote for anyone but Sanders anyway. They'll have to spin "ready to be president on day one" hard though. Rice, Warren, Lujan Grisham, Baldwin, and Raimondo are all stronger in that respect though Demings has powerful mentors, which helps.

A Biden aide disputed this reporting, said there remain multiple contenders in the mix. I believe this, and think it will be a very tough decision given all the competing interests.

Oh yeah like the Fox Business reporter has the scoop on Biden’s thinking here.

What about Susan Rice?

+1000 I love her and think she'd be my number 1 otherwise.

I hadn’t really considered her, but you’re right that she’s pretty amazing but the complicit media would carry the GOP’s water again.

Demings was the chief of police in a city with a major police misconduct problem... NO WAY Harris' status as a former prosecutor is a bigger liability. It's just that people don't know Demings yet. She is, in the current enviornment, a disaster of a pick. Yikes. (And I don't like Harris. I'd rather Rice, but she has her own baggage, or Abrams, but it seems like she fell out of the running because of the lack of executive experience. Sigh.)

Right on cue - “Benghazi” is trending on twitter.

Was it in relation to Rice? I don't see it now.

Rice was interviewed on MSNBC yesterday, so sharp. No hemming and hawing, no obfuscation, just clear and direct answers to questions posed. She's the one I want to debate Pence. The ones who'll scream about Benghazi wouldn't vote for Biden anyway.

Here's a good article with Rice pros and cons:

True that Biden avoids controversy, probably number one reason she's unlikely to be picked. Second is that she duplicates his experience rather than brings a different skill set. I consider that a plus given his age, but maybe an equally significant problem is that she has no retail political skills.
