Just wanted to point out that the handmaiden on the court, the middle finger to intelligent women everywhere, said pregnancy and childbirth are no big deal.

DP.  So what?  Her experience is not the experience of all women, and she is far from an expert on the risks and challenges that can come with pregnancy.  I have given birth to two children.  I have also had two miscarriages, right at the end of my first trimester each time.  The two pregnancies I did not lose were brutal.  If my employer were not so accommodating with flexible hours and work from home (they were ahead of their time when I had my first in 2007), I would have had to take medical leave starting around 20 weeks with each.  I had complicated deliveries with both, and my daughter and I both almost died when she was born in 2010.  And it was devastating to be told in no uncertain terms afterward that I should never try to have another baby because it could very well kill me.

So why is Ofjesse’s opinion on the burdens of pregnancy and childbirth more legitimate than mine?[/quote]
