Love this discussion about Miranda. You have to give the writers credit for the discussion her character's story has prompted.
Q about money-- since Miranda abruptly quit her law firm, are they living off money from Steve's bar? I am sure she had savings, but it seems like a big deal to quit your job with no back up plan. NYC is not a cheap place to live and Brady is in high school. I know quitting was part of the "woke Miranda" story, but you'd think she'd be doing some consulting work or the very least managing the books at Steve's bar? |
OK this is really minor but was anyone else bothered by Charlotte's knee length tennis dress? The 20's called and want their dress back.
I feel like this show is written and styled by twenty somethings who have no idea how fifty years olds behave. They are walking around on creaking bones and talking about health ailments like they are much older. |
As a partner in a corporate law firm, she socked away $100s of Ks before she quit. Steve's bar is profitable, no doubt. They probably own their home straight-out and have minimal expenses otherwise. |
It was SO unflattering. And didn't seem like it was unflattering on purpose or as a style choice. Just in general the styling of Charlotte this season has been weird. Too tight, too fussy. |
I disagree. Not about the tennis dress (hideous) but about the aging characters. Carrie was explained to have had a birth defect, not a bad hip from old age. Steve really does need hearing aids—so you can’t say they’re taking dramatic license there. Stanford is dead IRL, so Big dying is reasonable. Everyone else is doing their thing. Carrie trudged all over the city in heels. Charlotte and her husband (and their friends) play tennis, and Charlotte noted her burpee regimen. Harry seems even fitter now. Anthony runs a demanding business and only needs a little Botox. Who else is bumbling around like a senior citizen? |
Her legs looked like stumps. It was horrible. It looks like she's never exercised a day in her life. |
So the actor who plays Steve needs hearing aids? I did not know that. I thought it was a random thing to put in the script. I guess I was thinking of the way Miranda hobbles around when she walks and her leg fell asleep just having a picnic lunch ?!? and talking about burpees like that is a novel impressive thing worth mentioning. But mostly I thought the tennis outfit was super dowdy and a strange choice. |
I’m in my 40s and my leg falls asleep like that all the time. Bad circulation. I think it was just a way to have her storm off without storming off. But yeah the actor who plays steve needs hearing aids, so they wrote that in. I think that may also be why it sounds like he’s yelling. He just has really bad hearing. And Kristin Davis never shows her legs. I think they were working around that—but they maybe shoulda stuck with tights or something. But that’s not very tennis-y. My point is that people are looking for shit to complain about. But I’ll give you that it was tragically fug. ![]() |
That’s always been her body type. Tough crowd. |
I’ve never seen the other show that the Steve actor is in - I think it’s one of the Chicago shows on NBC? Does anyone watch that who can tell us if he also plays a yelling, doddering fool in it as well? |
But Patricia Field put her in sheath dresses that emphasized her booty not flared hems that highlight her stubby legs. The clothes have been so underwhelming |
Also it’s just weird generally to force the idea that Charlotte is now somehow athletic, maybe so you can do this weird tennis storyline. |
Charlotte was athletic. She always ran in the series, played tennis and golf with trey, and rode horses |
Charlotte has always been a runner. |
Are you looking for things to be annoyed by? Not every person who participates in sports is a lean machine. Not every fit older woman looks like a scrawny chicken either. |
