S. Carolina double murder

Also listen to the recordings from the police cars on the night of the boat murder. The kids/cops are frankly talking about 'do you know who that kid is?' in a shocked tone. They were referring to Murdaugh - the drunk pilot. And what do you know, as soon as his family got involved - cops were fired and the case was looking less secure.

I think it’s too much of a coincidence to think that his family was killed in a revenge killing and, unrelatedly, he happens to be an (apparent/likely) crime faker/malingerer as well as a thief to the tune of multiple millions.

He may have been stealing for years but stopped covering it up. I think his dog use also spiraled. I think he staged a suicide of himself but bungled it or chickened out. He wanted to make sure the other son got his insurance money. This is all so nutty.

Why would the girl’s family have done this? That doesn’t make sense. People don’t go around revenge murdering, especially the mothers. But husbands kill their wives A LOT.

Well, normally mothers doing go around filing lawsuits a month after their daughter's dead either against the FAMILY of the accused. The grandfather, father, and brother had nothing to do with that boat ride, were not piloting the boat, and not drinking.

She might as well have sued the girl's boyfriend or the friends who were drinking with her. Plus the lawsuits just got thrown out after Covid delays all 2020. So now the grief would be extra fresh.

Though I don't think the mother did it - it was someone else related to the girl in the small community.

I’m sure that was the bright idea of her lawyer. (The particular approach, not the idea of suing.)

Has the surviving son been ruled out as a suspect? I mean... at this point he's the only member of the immediate family that hasn't been shot.

I posted about it before -- Murdaugh Murders. Really good. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/murdaugh-murders-podcast/id1573560247

I don't think it is Mallory's family who killed the son and mother. I do think it is local and related to the boat accident but if you listen to the podcast you will hears about what Alex and his family were trying to do to set up others in the boat as driving the boat. And how the local police were all involved in it too.

Also Alex totally shot himself. He just chickened out at the end.

If Alex had hired hitmen to murder his wife and son he would have had a better alibi and stayed away longer. We’re supposed to believe he found them shortly after they were killed and some murderer(s) had already left. No way. He did it.

I don't think it was 'hitmen' hired by the father. I think it was individuals either upset about the a) son getting away with murder and the mother interfered or b) looking for the father because he owed them millions (which is why he stole from his law firm in the first place).

I don’t think the murders you’ve described are common or likely but the idea that the dad got in over his head and murdered his wife and son is super likely and relatively common.

No one thinks those types of murders are common. But neither is a lawyer stealing millions from their firm and getting away with it until a manslaughter charge is brought up against his family and in defending him the other partners realize the coffers are empty.

Aside from that what did he use the millions for. He certainly didn't spend it it on real estate where he lives. You can get a shack plus acreage for $48,000 near his home.

But funneling millions into a drug operation - not uncommon. And the drug operators wanting their cash if you've lost it - again not uncommon.

The only thing this story is missing is a hooker.

The oldest son, Buster. Did he even go to college? Were both sons trouble?

Buster went to college, and I believe he was in law school. He was secretly gay and had allegedly hooked up with the gay teen - Stephen Smith - that was found murdered.

Stephen Smith deserves justice, someone definitely killed him.
