Any word on the new NVSL rules for the summer?

I thought they were waiting for more guidance from the governor, who is supposed to open up more stuff on June 15. I know we will struggle to get timers if parents don't have to wear masks to spectate but have to for timing meets. We have a small team and it's always a struggle to get enough volunteers to run every meet.

Unless spectators aren't allowed. Some pools are considering this. Wearing a mask to time may seem a lot more attractive if the other option is not being there.

If NVSL forces the mask issue (which is dumb) then our pool won't allow any spectators "on deck" which in effect gives them no viewing area. It will be the ONLY way we can get volunteers and it will make our parents upset. We also have a large percentage (almost all) of our 12 and ups vaccinated now as well or are in their two week period after the second vaccine.

No. They aren’t waiting for more guidance.
They are hoping to vote by the end of this week. Either today or tomorrow.

The governor lifted all restrictions may 28tj. What do you think is not opened?

Exactly. Nothing is set to change.

Our summer team announced that all coaches are either already fully vaccinated or have had at least one dose and are scheduled for the second. My DD is getting the second shot this weekend, and but honestly has no problem wearing a mask from the clubhouse to the pool if asked (it’s suggested but not required at our pool for anyone not fully vaccinated yet). I have a feeling she’ll go with the flow on this; if her friends want to mask, she will too (her BFF has a slightly alarmist mom so this may happen).

That’s good. Our coaches aren’t all vaccinated. They won’t be. I have no problem with that and they are working with kids under 12. I don’t take issue with it, I’m just wondering how those who feel everyone should mask feel about their swimmers working with unmasked, unvaccinated coaches. I guess if they are uncomfortable with it they don’t do it.

Why aren’t your coaches vaccinated? All of ours over 16 are fully vaccinated and the few the coaches under 16 have had one shot and will be getting the second soon.

They don’t want it. They are against receiving the vaccine. No different from many others who aren’t vaccinated yet.

Only 1 case in Fairfax ... enough with the masks outdoors

How many kids are on the dive team?

I am not sure how many kids are on the team but there were at least 20 kids in this practice session.
They were close together in a circle during warm up and close together in line for the board.

Glad I’m not at your pool. And exactly why the NVSL should leave the mask rules up to each host pool. Much different deck settings, much different vaccine rates, much different deck space and much different comfort levels.

Why can't the NVSL require masks unless someone can prove full vaccination? That would solve several issues....

I'd like that, except it means pool by pool the management has to deal with a**holes who refuse to provide proof of vaccination and get pushy about entering anyways. Making all who are vaccinated mask sucks, but again it's the jerks who ruin it for everyone. By setting a rule for all A meets, and one that pools can refer to for B meets if they want, it's much more consistent.

One case out of over a million people yesterday. Come on, any mask requirements are absurd. There is literally zero covid circulating.

Sitting by my pool watching practice right now, no masks in sight. NVSL needs to catch up.

I wouldn’t like it. I don’t want my 10 year of to wear a mask outside anymore. It’s not science based!! It’s just stupidity.

I guess we can tell them our kid has a medical condition and they can’t wear a mask.

I understand what you are saying, but it’s not true that there is literally no Covid circulating.

I agree that they don’t need to require masks for all.

What can you do? We can’t make them vaccinate. I know our team rep and assistant team rep aren’t vaccinated. Two of our referees and an assistant coach aren’t vaccinated.
