I think people forget just how old Ginsburg is, and that she was raised in a very socially (but not politically) conservative manner. She has no skill at making small talk whatsoever with people who don’t have a similar background or education. She gets along with right-wing Supreme Court justices because they all attended the right schools, made Law Review, and clerked for the right appellate judges.

OP of the Ginsburg meet here. I met her about 25 years ago at a wedding of a family member. We were all attorneys, all Ivy League, all Jewish New Yorkers or Washingtonians. She simply has no personal warmth.

Maybe she's mellowed as she's gotten older because my teenage DD met her recently at a family party and was charmed by her. Apparently RBG spent a lot of time asking my DD questions about her life and plans, drawing her out, answering questions and offering advice.

Jay DeMarcus (rascal flatts): good ol’ boy, fun-loving, youth-group-kid who randomly got famous kind of vibe.

Kenny Chesney: a little odd. Hard to explain. Hard to read.

Mary Louise Parker: normal acting, except her skin is the most amazing skin i’ve ever seen in my life, so i found it hard not to stare awkwardly when we talked briefly. Such perfect skin.

Barbara Eden (99 from the original Get Smart): super, super nice. Loves to support up-and-coming opera singers. Humble. Amazing.

Pete Davidson: quite shy in person.

Neil Patrick Harris: seriously the most normal celebrity dude I’ve ever encountered.

Keith Richards: friend grew up with his kids in Weston CT.

They attended public school.

Said he was very nice and normal (besides being KEITH RICHARDS) and his wife did makeup for school plays

Charles Barkley. Good god beyond nice. Totally crazy nice. DH met him in an elevator and got stuck with him there lol. A good friend ran into him with her work team at Atlanta bar. She said he was amazing. One of her team was too shy to do the group photo at bar. He ran into her walking out and joked with her about being too shy and made sure he got another pic with her (she really wanted she was just shy). He could not have been nicer and so much fun.

The Pivens and Cusaks are nice. Esp the parents. They are old customers if my parents who owned a restaurant they always went to in Evanston. I met a number of celebrities. Older generation though from 70/80s. Early 90s too. Most people are really great.

Renee Zellweger was shockingly nice and very down-to-earth when I met her. I was standing off to the side at an event and she just walked right up to me and said something like "I'm invading your spot for a moment." She actually introduced herself, which I found very funny, and remembered my name when we passed by each other later that evening. She also never once asked "who are you here with?" or "what do you do here?" which is something you can hear a lot at those type of events. We just chatted about normal, mundane things. I remember her saying "it's all a bit much at times" and how she'd rather be at home.

Martin Sheen back when The West Wing was finishing up the last season (2007 or so) and they were shooting in the DC area across from the American History museum. I asked a production assistant if we could meet him, and to her credit, she relayed the request and he came out, chatted, took pictures, and was so nice. I still love watching TWW. Greatest show ever.

Dolly Parton. AMAZING human being. Very, very tiny, and looked like an everyday version of her stage self (slightly toned down wig, makeup and dress, but still very recognizable). I met her in a doctor's waiting room and she was so friendly and outgoing. She told me she was excited to meet the doctor since he played a rare instrument and she was going to try to convince him to play on a new album. How humble is that?!
