I think it's just that they expected McKinley to get broken up but that other peoples' kids would be the ones to have to move. Now it's their kids and it is THE END OF THE WORLD.

Arlington Education Matters - a facebook group where people complain about APS, particularly these days focusing on how racist everyone is.

There was once an extremely respectful AIDS activist speaking on some LGBTQ matter on AEM and he was eviscerated for not using the correct talking points. It’s brutal. But today the woke has come full circle and bitten them on the a$$.

It's an amazing sh*tshow and you should join it if you are able to read things and maintain emotional distance.

At last night's meeting there was an offhand mention of how Nottingham may factor into Reed -- were they talking about moving the one that planning unit south of Lee Highway to Reed? It's the first I heard about those two schools actually changing units.

Can you join if you live in Arlington but kids go to private school?

Her post:

Well now you have me! What you don’t get to hear in the video because they ended it early or cut me out was me standing up telling the SB they should be ashamed of themselves for how they are ignoring the community! I also looked Reid Goldstein in the face and told him he should be ashamed as well. Why should we be polite when they refuse to listen to us??

It gets better:

I take being called Rosa Parks a compliment. THANK YOU! I will never accept being ignored. No one should![/quote

the ultimate proof that beauty is only skin deep.

This is why staff keeps repeating itself that this moves phase is not a boundary proposal. Once they know the locations they are dealing with THEN they will do boundaries which will need to balance capacity and move some planning units to fill schools in the North. Looks to me like those schools in the middle of NA -- McK, Glebe, Taylor -- will have planning units shifted to the farther north schools that have capacity.

I don't see why not. You are obviously interested enough in APS to be on this thread, so that should be good enough.

I'm in it and my kids are in private pre-school. I think anyone who is in Arlington is fine. Also I don't think they screen that tightly.

True. Our school is K-8 and it's likely we'll do public high school.

Folks sometimes post interesting education articles on AEM. Read those and ignore most of the crazy chatter.

The crazy chatter is a feature, not a bug. Plus people do it under their real names so you know who to avoid in real life!

Not just one of the crazies but the #1 crazy. Ashlawn, watch out for her. She is tearing into everyone including those who want the same outcome she does.

Thank you for this tread everybody. We have some crazy people in my PU who want to DRIVE PAST reed to stay at McK. Can't figure that out. Here's the crazy part, I'm not sure this PU would be zoned for Reed. They are going to freak.

I personally don't care b/c like many noted, these are all good schools.
