The complete lack of racial diversity, for a start.

Going back to the original posts, these are the most expensive DC suburban high school districts for single-family homes over the past 12 months:

1. B-CC (Bethesda)
2. Langley (McLean)
3. Whitman (Bethesda)
4. Churchill (Potomac)
5. George Mason (Falls Church)
6. McLean (McLean)
7. Yorktown (Arlington)
8. Washington-Lee (Arlington)
9. Madison (Vienna)
10. Oakton (Vienna)

Of the top 10, the only one with more diversity than B-CC is W-L in Arlington.

Do you honestly think the diversity at B-CC comes from Chevy Chase? Come on.

Shouldn’t they call it BCCSS

Chevy Chase is the McDonald's of neighborhoods. Wheaton is the Morton's steakhouse.

HAHA I love this. I think this is the LAST thing anyone would ever say about the 2, but I'm sure some DCUM posters would love to argue otherwise.

That's a personal preference, not a moral preference. CC is around 85% white but a good portion of that will also be Jewish.

Given the history of racial violence and segregation in this country, I would argue otherwise. White people can't bury their heads in the sand anymore and claim "personal preference."

People in chevy chase pay to be surrounded by rich white people. They even say so in this thread before their comments get deleted

PP directly above you, and, yeah, exactly. I mean, isn't that what they think is so great about it? That's what all the other stuff is code for, when you get down to it. FWIW, I'm a white woman who grew up in Bethesda, so I know this area well.

Chevy Chase was built for exactly this. It’s not like it just happened that way. The black and poor people who were here were removed and the housing and amenities were uniformly expensive and exclusively for white people. That’s not ancient history.

I really don't care what happened in Chevy Chase 100 years ago. Do you know what happened 100 years ago too? WWI and millions of white people killing each other. Do I care about that too? Nope.

Nothing stops black buyers from moving to Chevy Chase. Nothing. It's not Chevy Chase's fault if there aren't enough minorities to satisfy your quotas. Good luck trying to make a moral dilemma out of some people wanting to live in Chevy Chase. They are living their life the way they want to while you are sitting in a front of a screen ranting.

What stops many is a lack of family wealth and poor savings habits that make down payments on CC homes out of reach. The preference in many cases to buy larger homes in less expensive neighborhoods with more AAs doesn’t explain it all.

I’m not yet in on the joke, BUT:
Chevy Chase is the white bread sandwich with the crusts cut off neighborhood.
Wheaton is the global buffet with unexpected thrills, both good and bad, neighborhood.

WWI was also about colonial empires sending Africans and Asians to Europe to die for the empire. Germany lost in no large part since its empire was smaller and so it lacked the reserves of cannon fodder in that war of attrition.

OT, for sure. But given the importance of these issues, including housing, I hope people think some more before being flip.
