It is more likely that in a few years the St. James dissolves the soccer side of things than it is open to mergers. The St James is a business first and foremost.

The St. James is not a youth soccer company and the club needs to actually make them money not simply sustain itself.

While they make money in many different ways and the margins made on a soccer club make it unnecessary to their bottom line. It either carries itself and is profitable or they just dissolve the club. But purchasing another club isn't going to make them any more money. Their brand and business model is not youth soccer. They bought one of the few available for profit clubs in the area which was easier than trying to start their own club from scratch.

A merger with a non-profit simply muddies the waters as they are a business after all and not a community non-profit. It is also unlikely that BRYC is "for sale" either. If a merger were to happen it in fact would likely go in the other direction of FCV being bought by a local club.

A merger is not a purchase. A merger is a mutual agreement to share resources. In such, STJ gains more memberships.

BRYC is a non-profit a merger won’t happen because it will not help STJ’s bottom line. BRYC has ECNL and FCV does not. There is nothing for BRYC to gain with FCV and STJ.

That merger isn’t going to happen. Not sure any club would risk merging him with FCV. Every club that has partnered with FCV ends up getting screwed by them and hating them

FCV merging with clubs then is different than STJ merging. FCV no longer exists.

BRYC can still partner with TSJ which then gives the TSJ an ECNL platform.

Arlington tried, but Mclean blackballed them. Both before Girls DA and after it imploded. But Arlington boys are in ECNL this year, so if BRYC doesn’t win any games, maybe ECNL will get wise, drop BRYC, and add Arlington no matter what Mclean says.

So what happened?

FCV continued taking their players without a real partnership and Loudoun applied for ECNL during the DA vs ECNL battle created by US Soccer and got it.
