There has to be at least 2 mergers. Then the merged teams will have a pipeline and would truly get the super team in ECNL. Or at least close to it. |
|
FCV will take over BRYC to get back into ECNL and sell STJ memberships. Loudoun will strengthen. Arlington and Mclean will merge their girls program and strengthen. My prediction.

Why would a gym double down by buying another club? It is more likely that in a few years the St. James dissolves the soccer side of things than it is open to mergers. The St James is a business first and foremost. |

Some of yall can't do basic analysis
LOUDOUN ARLINGTON PWSI All have the biggest pool in the area. Figure it out |
Memberships. Thats what gyms acquire. It costs them nothing to run FCV. The parents pay everything. Lets be for real |
And how many memberships have they acquired with a Loudoun based soccer club? |
But this is how it should work. Transparency and accountability is the first step to becoming a true destination club. |
Do you think STJ is paying out of pocket to run FCV? Get a grip. They make money all different ways |
The St. James is not a youth soccer company and the club needs to actually make them money not simply sustain itself. While they make money in many different ways and the margins made on a soccer club make it unnecessary to their bottom line. It either carries itself and is profitable or they just dissolve the club. But purchasing another club isn't going to make them any more money. Their brand and business model is not youth soccer. They bought one of the few available for profit clubs in the area which was easier than trying to start their own club from scratch. A merger with a non-profit simply muddies the waters as they are a business after all and not a community non-profit. It is also unlikely that BRYC is "for sale" either. If a merger were to happen it in fact would likely go in the other direction of FCV being bought by a local club. |
A merger is not a purchase. A merger is a mutual agreement to share resources. In such, STJ gains more memberships. |
Wtf is a destination club? Player pool is the issue, no pipeline of players, don’t have 3-4 teams at younger age groups which is essential. |
FCV and Mclean WERE destination clubs when they were the only clubs in NOVA with ECNL.. Again, thank US Soccer for destroying what took 12 years to build. |
I’m happy the barriers have been torn down. Those two clubs have gotten stale and boring. |
You prefer Loudoun where they virtually have won less than 10 games in the last 2 years across 14 ECNL teams? Open that wallet and shut up. LOLZ |
Build? FCV won zero titles in that time and McLean has 1. They did not build anything. They benefited from a closed market system. |
