Letter from Cancellor re moving schools - opps - I got caught moving my kid?

Anonymous
In fact I wouldn't be surprised if one of the stipulations of the job was that Bowser said he had to send his kids to a public school, not a private one... and then to sweeten the deal assured him that they'd get them in somewhere "good".

Sounds about right to me. In any event, I wouldn't mind the Chancellor having the pick of the littler for their kids, anyone else no, But then again the Mayor (future), may want this for themselves as well. Guess it is right to eliminate this preference all together.

Which would have been fine if he rented in area for awhile, with his salary I'm sure he could have afforded to and moved later! At least look like you're following the rules for goodness sake!

I don't see that. If the two highest education officials in DC are colluding I wouldn't expect a principal to stop them. They know what happens to whistle-blowers in DCPS.

Discretionary transfers were banned last year. You better believe that principal has some explaining to do.

The principal got her own son placed at Wilson. You think she’s in a position to say no ??!!

The IG has also been told to look into it.

Mayor's statement. https://twitter.com/MayorBowser/status/964586785220292615

Wow. Mayor told him the kid has to be removed from Wilson. Surprised she took a hard line on this one.

Good for her! He was brought on to fix DC schools, not continue status quo! He is a huge jerk and hypocrite.

A hard line would be to fire him.

Niles was a faker too, with a nice smile. Not sorry to see her go. She refused to help kids with special needs when DCPS was actively trying to screw them. Comes around goes around.

The sense of entitlement is a constant theme among elected officials in DC. It's gross but I'm honestly not surprised. Same old same old.

Also, Niles was an active cheerleader for social promotion. So principals and teachers were motivated to ensure all students "passed".
Anonymous
This is absurd. So DC.

The WaPo paper said
"Bowser said she remains confident in Wilson’s ability to lead the school system."

So he is not getting fired?

I feel terrible for everyone at Dunbar! What a horrible slap in the face for your Chancellor to say the school isn’t good enough for his kid. Appalling, really.

Give it a few days. He isn't going to survive this.
