This is a hot topic and has a lot of people upset especially since spring break is being cut in some counties and days added to summer. Before the EO I did not hear so much grumbling about Hogan. There is a lot in play with 180 days, school calendars, unions etc. so I don't think Hogan has all the blame for the screwed up days. I think he is brining in a lot of business and jobs to our state. I think he's doing a good job overall and I hope he is re-elected. |
Right. This was several years ago. Maintenance of effort. |
Maintenance of Effort was put into effect in 1984, way before Madaleno’s time. MOE is a state requirement that counties maintain current per pupil spending. I have no issue with this. And it keeps us from having to experience a situation like WV is experiencing. |
Where's the evidence for that? Discovery Channel is closing its headquarters in Silver Spring. Amazon has 20 cities on its finalist list, Hogan doesn't get any kudos for that yet. |
This should be good for some campaign ads...
|
| Hogan is an authoritarian tool. I don't get the appeal. |
|
Hogan is rated A- by the NRA--now flip flopping in an effort to win reelection.
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/politics/bs-md-gun-control-proposals-20180227-story.html Hogan, who holds an A-minus rating from the National Rifle Association, endorsed creating a “red flag” law that would allow judges to temporarily order gun owners to surrender firearms if they are deemed to be a danger to themselves or others. |
Maryland already has a law like this. They took away a bunch of guns from the Montgomery Mall shooter because his wife had gotten an order of protection. He kept one, though. |
|
Serious question from an independent here. Which Democrat candidate that is running against Hogan has what it takes to be the governor of Maryland? I'm not the biggest fan of either party. So, I am on the fence as to whether or not I'm going to vote for Hogan. However, not one of the Democrat candidates that are running against him appeal to me. It seems like people that I talk to are only against Hogan because they dislike Republicans, but that is not enough for me. No one can give me clear and concrete reasons as to why Hogan should not be reelected. Yes, he is lackluster and flawed in some areas, but so are the other candidates.
Democrats who are you voting for and why? |
The democrat will win. Doesn’t matter who it is. Just say no to Hogan |
| I heard Rich Madaleno speak recently at an candidates forum, and was impressed. He has state government experience and has quitr a record of accomplishment. He’s also been endorsed by Rep. Jamie Raskin, who is in my mind one of the best and brightest in congress right now. |
Jamie Raskin is a unstable freak. https://fellowshipofminds-files-wordpress-com.cdn.ampproject.org/i/s/fellowshipofminds.files.wordpress.com/2017/07/rep-jamie-raskin-d-md.jpg |
| Wild hair does not make someone a freak, PP. I jave been following Jamie Raskin’s career for years, and can tell you that he is one of the most consistently thoughtful, passionate, brilliant, effective elected officials of our era. |
| Thank goodness we have quality publications like the fellowship of minds blog to root out the corruption of bad hair in dc... |
| I've had it with the GOP. I'm voting a straight Democratic ticket this time. |
