Acceptance Notifications! Please post here!

My daughter heard from her friends at school that they were accepted but she has to go through the pain of waiting to be told she is rejected! Very bad behavior on the part of the school. Just let everyone know at once and we can move on. I hope they read this forum.

I agree this is poor form, especially in an era of email, portals and social media.

Cut GDS some slack. I doubt it was intentional. Just want to make sure you get the acceptances out early because of yield.

Beauvoir/STA parent here. I am sorry to hear this but if it makes you feel any better, this was a very tight year to get in because there are so many siblings, legacies, etc... applying. You can always reapply for 5th, 6th, or 7th. Good luck.

DS was WL at St.A. IS it REALLY a tough year w/siblings and legacies? This would help to know, as we don't know what he/we could have done differently. Wondering if worth applying next year.

Is it worth contacting admissions when the dust clears just for feedback on the application? If it's worth us applying again?

I have heard from 2 sources (neither this forum, but actual real people) that this next 4th was filled with Beauvoir boys, more than usual. However I have no idea if that is accurate or not.

OP here, and not sure what you mean 15:34 by "yield". I just think any school should be consistent and not leave some people hanging. People who are on WL or not accepted deserve as much courtesy as those who are accepted, one would think.

Yield is percentage of accepted students who come to the school. All schools want yeses ASAP, so jump gun. No incentive to tell people "no" early, hence WL that may not be realistic.

Yes, but there is also no reason to boldly lie by denying that emails have been sent to accepted families.

I sincerely doubt the person intentionally lied. He/she was probably just ill-informed. Speaks more to organization than deceit.

I seriously doubt that GDS intentionally lied. I do believe that there must have been a major miscommunication between between the desk and the ADs, which seems to have been corrected at some point in the early afternoon.

I agree, all these schools should just post or email results to everyone so everyone hears at once. And what's with the 12:01 am postings? Not necessary to make parents (and some kids undoubtedly) stay up. Just do it at a reasonable hour during the day or early evening.

What grade? Is CHD Capitol Hill? If so, how where you notified?

She's really not waiting though since she knows by default that she was rejected. Stupid system for sure, but there is no suspense or waiting. Your child (and mine) was rejected.
