Where do you think Malia Obama will enroll?

OK, this correction to the NY Times story is hilarious, in that it epitomizes the rap that Penn has for being insecure about being overlooked as an Ivy:
An earlier version of this article omitted one of the Ivy League schools Malia Obama has toured. In addition to the five mentioned, she has also toured the University of Pennsylvania.

Yep, the Penn flacks were on it right away.

If the writing wasn't egregiously poor, it was still bad and well below what most Ivy undergraduates would have produced. It also generally was understood at the time that sociology was by far the easiest major available at an Ivy campus.

Is it really? I've read many undergraduate theses from students who attended elite schools, and they are most certainly by and large, not great prose.

Seriously, I thought we learned in 9th grade English that you NEVER use first or second person POV in academic writing.

Please tell me that thesis is a joke!
Do you honestly think Princeton gives a shit what you think?
+1. I recently read several of my undergrad college papers from 20+ years ago. They are decent but definitely not PhD material, and nowhere near the standard of my present day writing skills.

That said, I wouldn't mind taking a peak at GWB's undergrad thesis since he admits he was a C student.
LOL!!! PP here. That's peek, not peak. I'm still working on my skills and HATE autocorrect!

You'll likely spend a long time looking. While Princeton requires a senior thesis, at Yale it is less common.

Could well be Harvard.

Yes, she might choose Harvard especially if her friends are going there.

Perhaps Malia will choose a school her father was rejected from... Swarthmore!

Agree.

And "enroll at," like "where that's at," is terrible Maryland usage.

Where are you at?

I should of went to U of MD

I should have gone to U of MD

Her friends aren't in Harvard yet, although the friend she toured Harvard with (mentioned in the article) probably has a great chance now. I've noticed a certain amount of eye-rolling about Harvard among kids in DMV elite public and private schools, though. Stanford seems to be the new cool school (ask Chelsea Clinton), along with Yale and Columbia (Princeton loses points for the eating clubs).

YMMV, of course!

I'll bet Malia would stand an excellent chance at all of these schools even if her dad weren't the President.

Yes her friend probably just cemented an acceptance letter with the NY Times article.

I'll bet you can't even begin to make an educated guess if you don't know her grades/SATs. It's way easier for AA students, but you still need really solid SATs and grades.

I've been noticing this about Harvard too. I think the lack of attention paid to the undergraduate experience is finally catching up to Harvard a little bit. Not that they will ever notice...

Better question : what does Obama go after the White House? Does he claim he is broke like Hillary did?

Her parents are bright and accomplished, so it is a reasonable assumption that so is she.
