If the writing wasn't egregiously poor, it was still bad and well below what most Ivy undergraduates would have produced. It also generally was understood at the time that sociology was by far the easiest major available at an Ivy campus.

Who cares? Mrs. Obama may not have been Eudora Welty or a rocket scientist in college. But she went on to have a commendable professional career even before she moved into the White House. As first lady, she has represented the country well, and even many of those who did not vote for her husband are proud of the job that she has done. She is an effective advocate for the issues that she has championed, including children's healthy eating, and she has brought attention to the sacrifices that military families make as their loved ones serve.

Thanks. As a very affluent AA parent with a kid in DCPS, good to know that I have been been given my orders and expectations. I also know a lot of affluent "AA" parents who are catching hell trying to keep up with the Jones.

+1. I recently read several of my undergrad college papers from 20+ years ago. They are decent but definitely not PhD material, and nowhere near the standard of my present day writing skills.

That said, I wouldn't mind taking a peak at GWB's undergrad thesis since he admits he was a C student.
