Yes! Bashing on an anonymous forum is the way to effect change! Great idea!

It seems to be an effective way to get the word out

For reals? How many people do you know IRL who read DCUM?

Are you kidding? I see people reading it all the time ... on the Metro, at coffee places, even at the USAir Shuttle terminal in NY. Of course, most friends say they "rarely" read it. But I know they all do. It's like the "50 Shades" of DC parenthood gossip. And it's pretty clear teachers and admin from many schools follow it too. I'd bet $100 that people working at NCS have read this very thread several times.

+1

Not only do NCS admin read it, you can bet they defend it.

Maybe the only people not reading DCUM are the clueless who are still applying their DDs to NCS despite all the negative commentary. Or they're just hyper-competitive and don't care. All about getting into HYP for them.

I remember my daughter telling me about Johnson's daughter coming to the school to talk. LBJ's daughter was hesitant to come because she said it was not a pleasant experience for her but she was guilted into it. Not sure what she was trying to get across but the takeaway for my daughter was that it used to be even worse. And that women graduate, go on and still hate it 30 years later.

Wow. The PRESIDENT'S daughter had a tough time at NCS? I guess that was because her father didn't fit the "country club" role.

This thread alone has 10,000+ views.

I'm a different poster, and dislike the categorical approach.

First of all, has anyone ever been to high school where there were not mean kids/mean girls? My co-ed public school had plenty of "Queen Bees" -- high school is a tough age for girls and perhaps at an all-girls school some of the behaviors can be magnified (although I do imagine they get to speak out in class without being made fun of by boys, which was common back in the day in my co-ed high school).

Secondly, people do seem determined to drown out anyone posting a positive experience/outlook/viewpoint about NCS. Why not make your point without ripping everyone who has a contrary viewpoint?

Third, by the nature of this anonymous forum, it is entirely accurate that we do not, and cannot, know how many different posters there are on any issue.

Night, all.

Thanks, PP. I don't have any connection to NCS. I'm starting to find the obsessive bashing, which appears to be coming from 1-2 repeat posters, more than a little disturbing.

Uh, the title of the thread is Bullying at NCS. Perhaps you want to start your own " Lovely, happy time, NCS"

What's the point? The same 1-3 bashers would show up with their pitchforks and wouldn't leave until they had burnt the thread down. And then they'd hang around to spit on the ashes. *creepy*

Yup. I'm sure some of these OCD bashers open the thread up once an hour (or more) to check if there's been any response to their latest screed.

So the NCS defenders spend their time responding to posts that they say no one reads.

That's sad. Did you tell your own DD not to shun these lovely girls? Or did your DD succumb to peer pressure?

Sometimes when someone takes a stand against bullying and stands up for someone who is bullied, it weakens the bullies and their reign of terror is over.

New poster here. My very good friend, who I've known since we were 10, sent her daughter to NCS. She told me awful stories of how her daughter was treated. Her daughter is now at college and cannot believe how wonderful life is again. Needless to say, our dd did not apply to NCS. Administrators who are reading this, please do all you can to help these girls!

If the goal is to develop leaders (i.e., not just attorneys, but future AGs; not just executive VPs, but company founders; not just PTA moms, but senators), then is it possible that this Lord of the Flies culture is not only tolerated, but fostered?
