Bullying at NCS

This may sound sexist, and maybe it is. But there seems to be a direct correlation with the way the STA boys treat the NCS girls and the amount of bullying going on between the girls.

There are so many accusations of this, but I just don't see it, and I spend a lot of time with the STA/NCS group that my child is part of. What exactly are you imagining goes on? What exactly do STA boys do that is disrespectful or damaging to NCS girls?

Is this the 9th grade NCS/STA grade that you are referring to? Friends in NCS 9th grade said they daughter is very happy this year and the grade is great.

Does this have to do with recent parties in 9th? I don’t understand what this is referring to.

I don't think the reference is to the 9th grade class. A few girls did leave before high school started, and that has changed the dynamic for the better. As for the boys, I've known a lot of them from Beauvoir. They are as a group very sweet, polite and nice kids. I'm far from a STA booster, as if you look at the recently graduated class for instance, I thought they were toxic. But all signs so far are that the 9th grade at both NCS and STA are great.

Referring to the Class of 2021? I agree seems like a good group of boys. But of course you never know how things shake out.

To reply to a PP, the personality of a class at STA absolutely impacts on the girls at NCS. The notorious 2017s were pigs. Even after expulsions and discipline for over the line mistreatment of the girls, those dudes just took their misbehavior underground but definitely retaliated for being outed. The 2018s are much better mannered than the uncouth 2017s, but they went major passive aggressive with their NCS 2018 sisters, basically blaming them for what happened to 2017s and ignoring the class. Not asking them to prom, etc. and dating the girls in younger classes. That creates a lot of friction and sometimes outright fights within NCS. Makes me want to tear my hair out.

What is the NCS class of 2024 like? Cohesive and nice like 2022 or with mean girls running the show like 2021 was in middle school?

Class of 2024 seems to be OK - so far. If not, we are prepared to leave.

A teenage boy who is attracted to a girl isn't going to be deterred by inter-school politics. More likely, they were more interested in the younger girls than the ones in that class.

It is true that a number of mean to the core girls left. But a few remained. Though I'm thinking more and more this is about the Instition rather than Individuals.

It’s not NCS that makes these sorts of issues. It may be a different type of “institution” which is the institution of a certain social class/group/club in dc that is at the root cause of many issues at many of these schools. It is not the school as there are so many nice girls and families at NCS. I don’t even know who the girls are that you are all referring to but based on the description it sounds like it is more a parent/social engineering issue that has made it worse. I can assure you that NCS does not encourage exclusive bad behavior. It’s the complete opposite.

Heard the STA/NCS classes of 2032 are way over the line. Harassment, parties out of bounds, unwelcome touching, dear lord when will these schools take charge of this?

Another parent of class 2024 here - I am taking notes and keeping a close watch on things...I just learned the "Mean Girls" is based on NCS! What a tradition and culture it had and how much of the complication or remnant of such tradition and culture still exists?
