At DC privates - Why are VA parents considered "inferior"?

Anonymous
I'm so glad that I'm middle class (even if our HHI would suggest otherwise) and don't have to detail with super snobbity snobs like 14:41! And WTF would we widen 66?!

Get over yourself. You are only the only one who "gets it" because it's all in your head!

So wait, the big liberals of DC/MD making fun of VA bc of the high number of immigrants?! Don't liberals love immigrants? Liberals have the right to shout I am better than you bc I have a trust fund, I live in NW, I make more money? I am confused here, who is the bigot here? WTF, is this a Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion?

Their public school options are good and there are privates in VA they could attend that would afford more of a community for their kids. My read on these VA parents is that it's all about the perceived status of DC privates to them. They're climbers. Plain and simple.

DC privates are closer than SSSA or Flint Hill. SSSA has more Alexandria people. Many buy in VA because they work there and others buy because there was a house for sale. Bethesda and CC are very congested compared to Mclean. Wait-Mclean is closer to STA than most of Potomac.

This thread and the snobby people were and are ridiculous. Most of the social climbers lived in NW DC, BCC [or moved there] and loved bragging about contacts, who they spoke with etc. So much ass kissing to some their noses were brown. The VA people didn't kiss. Just lived and went about their own business.

FYI: I live in North Arlington, right across Chain Bridge. I can leave my house at 7:30 and be at St. Pats in 6 minutes. And GDS takes maybe one minute more. What lights? The light at Chain Bridge for those of us coming down Glebe is always green. And when traveling at 7:30, we don't encounter bad traffic.

Eww Arlington. Let me guess. Government employee? GS something. You probably are the person from va with not one but 2 st pats stickers on your car. Hey look at me!

Wrong. DH is "biglaw" partner. HHI is almost 3M. We choose to live in VA because of the lower tax burden. We also don't live in a McMansion, but in a 1930s Tudor.

You are a bigot.

And you choose to send your kids to school in DC (I assume) because....?

Not the PP but I assume it's because they believe that particular school is the best fit for their child and they are able to make both the finances and the logistics work.

Are you the 10-year-old? I hate it when posters say this, but in your case it's so true: your powers of reading comprehension are pathetic!

Oh dear. New to this scene. I hope none of you are parents at our Big 3 K and I am in NW DC. This is so shameful and so sad that all these posters are actually parents with whom we may interact. So superficial, such a lack of depth and seemingly proud of it. The ones who shout the loudest about how beneath them VA is, my professional training tells me are very unhappy trying to fill some space somewhere. Its embarassing. And a simple hacker could easily expose your identity, I am not sure why you think that you unhealthy self-esteem is so well hidden behind "anonymous".

+1...I was born and raised in upper nw dc and live there now. Oh, and also, this is going to be a shocker for all those VA haters, growing up I went over the bridge every day to go to school. I prefer living and working in DC but hold nothing against people who live in VA. I have at times found that NoVA people are arrogant and snotty but the same can be said for many DC people as well, especially the nasty ones fueling the DC/VA war on this board. I love Washington and hope I never move but I have to say that on this board it's the DCers that sound like nasty intolerant insecure a holes. And really, who chooses their friends based singularly on where they live?

Well, I am the PP she addressed, but the person who responded is correct. We send our kids to the schools that best suit them as individuals. Those schools happen to be in DC, but as I have said, it takes us no time to get there.

Very NEW. New money, New homes (poor construction quality), new Americans, new Everything. As someone once said There are new Lees in Virginia. If you get it you get it. Hides behind low taxes but actually his same tax burden when all taxes are factored in. Southern Va dominates politics and takes all the money. Look how long it's taken to widen 66. Very middle class, desolate landscape of strip malls and developments. Only argument to move there is "for the schools".

You are incredibly ignorant. Seriously. Every one of these opinions is either horribly misinformed, racist or just plain wrong.

This thread is crazy! It's very similar to the thread "do you really judge people by where they live" in the off topic forum. I'm wondering if some of the posters are the same???
Anonymous
You people are freaks. Let your kids go to school and pick their friends and shut up about where you all live.
