At DC privates - Why are VA parents considered "inferior"?

Anonymous wrote:It’s hard to separate the narcissistic view that DC is the center of the universe from the classism that pervades NW DC private schools. The automatic assumption is that if you’re living in VA it’s because you don’t have enough money to buy a house in DC because of course there’s no reason to live in VA if you can afford DC.🙄

I know some people who live in multi-million dollar apartments (Europeans who prefer apartment living) who complain that no one will visit them in their apartments because the assumption is you must be poor if you live in an apartment.

TLDR: Many DC private school parents are dumb, classist, snobs or all of the above.

Have you traveled in MD outside the DC suburbs and Baltimore? Total nostalgia for the good ole confederate, slave-holding days. Total Trump country. It's why we decided not to buy a second house at the MD shore, lovely though it is.

Well, in VA they actually voted to go back to good ole confederate, slave-holding days.

Even the IT sweashops in NoVa want to go back to the 'good ole days'

The firm's HQ is in Loudoun county, which is Trump country. Arlington, Alexandria, and Fairfax are purple, leaning more blue.

Only idiots take one incident and turn it into a sweeping trend.

If you think Arlington and Alexandria are purple, you need to do some more homework.

Not only are Arlington/Alexandria not purple, they’ve always been “blue.” Arlington/Alexandria were Union territory. They were exceedingly anti-slavery and the union set up defenses along the “Arlington line” in territory that was pro Union to protect DC.

Still too much Lee this, Jackson that and "war of northern aggression" memorabilia. Get the rest of the Confederate dead-enders out of your state and we'll consider letting you come to our DC parent's parties.

Imagine being so desperate to appear old money that you go on an anonymous internet forum to bang on about the Confederacy. Sad, really. Those “DC parents parties” likely only exist in your mind.

Imagine being so pitiful and desperate to defend the confederacy that you claim to celebrate “heritage not hate.” News flash: Your heritage is hateful.

I’m grateful that I don’t live in the land of delusion, confederate monuments, and lost causes. VA is teetering on joining its more southern neighbors who wish to bring the Handmaid’s Tale to life. Do better Virginia!

Lol I neither live in nor am from Virginia, so “my” heritage is not anything. But your obsession with this is not normal or healthy.

Lol—you’ve decided my comments criticizing Virginia’s confederate history (and present) is obsessive! You must be from an even deeper part of the south. I can smell the secession and treason on you through my screen.

Your obsession with defending your confederate roots is not normal or healthy.

Nope, still wrong. I’m from a free state. You are still disturbed though.

No, you’re definitely from the confederate south. You and your ancestors are/were on the wrong side of history though. You’re disturbed for defending such a disgraceful history.

Lady my ancestors didn’t even come to the US until the 20th century. Get help.

So... new money. Right.

So you oppose people who look down on others and then you look down on immigrants. Right. Hypocritical as well as crazy. You really have it all.

I don't look down on new money. I'm just saying, it's new.

I look down on people from VA for being unimaginative and boring.

Add that to the list of things to raise with your shrink the next time you see him (I assume that’s daily given the insanity of your comments).

I'm the one who feels fine about things. You're the one who is secretly worried that other parents are looking down on you and then when told why think it's grounds for therapy. Nobody needs to go to therapy -- get some imagination and stop being so boring. Then buy a house in DC. Voila. Problem solved!

You have used “boring” and some variation of “unimaginative”in 3 posts. That’s pretty boring and unimaginative. I think you need some new material. Come on over to Virginia so we can expand your vocabulary a bit. My meemaw taught me words like repetitive and stupid and condescending and poseur all of which apply to you. You’re probably a second generation transplant from NJ trying to other yourself in some way. Some of us came to Virginia to leave people like you behind. Plus we like horses and wine and we can have both here. And a bunch of good colleges.

Also “Dixie” and “treasonous confederacy.” But this is likely the same person who cited the Mason Dixon line but didn’t know what or where it was, so we shouldn’t be surprised that they are a bit intellectually challenged.

No, I’m one of the DC posters and I haven’t written anything about the Mason Dixon line. There are several DC residents posting, Dixie. 😊

Name calling seems to be a hallmark of the Virginia posters on this thread. It appears that your vocabulary, intellectual expression, and maturity are severely limited.

33 pages of nutters ranting into the wind about the Confederacy. If that’s not an advertisement for public schools I don’t know what is.

The constant threat of budget cuts, crowded classrooms, in-school bullying and violence are an endorsement for private schools. You can keep public schools. Why are you in this forum anyway?

If you and your "meemaw" are so happy in VA, why are you here braying about not getting enough respect from DC private school parents? Seems like you feel like you're still lacking something. If you're happy with your *checks notes* horses and wine, move on with your life and don't worry about what we think of you.
