| Is this the same person typing these long messages over and over? |
So disagreeing with Capital’s system isn’t allowed, and it’s unfathomable that more than one person may feel this way? Please. Many BLC parents are over it, even if they want their DD to make it! |
| My daughter went through Capital and my main issue was why weren’t some of the healthy baller sessions throw in if you’re daughter is on one of the Capital teams? Given they don’t practice very often we felt from a “value” perspective it was terrible. Compared to other travel programs/sports that include multiple practices a week as well as speed & agility Capital has the floor set pretty low (it shows on the field too). |
I would agree the team needs more practices. |
| Capital is a dying brand. Gussie could give two shits. Money keeps rolling in. They have no original thought or strategy. Really hope some one pushes them. They need to adapt and change but so complacent |
So you think she doesn't care about her business. I have never talked to her in my life but there is no way someone who goes to crappy lacrosse fields in New Egypt on weekend, doesn't care at all. |
I think she does care, but real change won’t happen unless she starts Capital from a younger age and really works to develop players, because it’s not happening enough in a general sense across all the clubs. Plus she needs to up her game at HB. The lax classes are just not good enough, as she has stepped back significantly from coaching them and has left much of it to the young guy, whose classes are boring and unproductive. |
| As long as Capital can put a few kids per class into top schools, I would expect the status quo to continue. No other program in the DC area can do this. It’s really more about the few top kids working their butts off outside of Capital than anything Capital does. If another program can come along and only provide decent training, it could make inroads. |
Your post drips with agenda |
| Why does Capital only practice once weekly? |
| Parent of an older player here: this really isn’t complicated. I may not know every detail of the 2030 class, but I’ve seen how this works, and it’s the same every time. The top high school teams around here are M&D Black, Hero’s Green, Capital Blue, and Skywalkers Blue. Period. No one else is close. People can complain, overhype other programs, or pretend the gap isn’t real, but it is. And that’s not changing anytime soon. If you want your daughter to have a real shot at D1 lacrosse, get her on one of those teams. Otherwise, you’re making the path much harder than it needs to be. Worrying about the number of practices a week misses the point entirely. |
| It’s a *couple* girlies each year who get recruited to decent schools. If your kid isn’t going to be a lax coach or trainer just play high school lacrosse, study and go to a decent college that works for your kid. The time and money are NOT worth it unless your kid is already a TOP player. |
You should have been more subtle — less is always more when pretending to be someone you’re not on DCUM. Had you stopped after the second sentence you would have gone undetected. But you leaned in way too strong that last line. Dead giveaway. Capital Delusion Syndrome is real!! |
You def have an older player which is why you aren’t aware of the changing trends. M&D Black/ HG are in their own tier. Then there’s a gap. Capital/SW/MDU all mostly grouped together at 2027, 2028. 2030 obviously remains to be seen with Capital but I don’t see them better than what BLC is, which is clearly behind MDU and likely SW (who will continue to add talent) |
| All these programs send players to top 10 and broader top 25 programs. Capital sends more to ivies. |
