Many of those listed under Orange did not play for Orange, they played for Blue after freshmen year, sp the numbers are off.

Too hard to answer without knowing the makeup of the team post capital selections. Neither of the clubs have been around long locally. Both clubs are "one off" satellite's of impressive parent organizations. Who has better coaching stability? Who has better access to fields? What high schools are they connected to? Do they have a recruiting director? Is he/she local?

This can’t be true. There’s so little movement between Orange and Blue. It can’t be “many”. WTF.

Many of which are also in cold/snowy places. . . Lacrosse is a tool to achieve a goal. If a kid on Cap Orange chooses Middlebury over some lower tier D1 with mediocre academics, that is a win for her.

Well, it is if you know the girls. And, so what if its 25% of Orange (or more) that make D1. The point remains. Most of Blue plays D1. Most of Orange plays D3 or low D1. So, figure out what your goal is, and act accordingly.

None of these recent posts have anything to with the question, "What do I do if my kid doesn't make Orange?"

Same boat here. My DD is a Kori Edmonson and Sam Apuzzo clone. We did a 23&me report and she is related to both, yet superior athletically. She wont make Capital because, you know, politics. So between M&D DC and YJ DMV, whats the better option?

I don't think the OP was suggesting politics would keep DD off the team, but I guess that doesn't matter if people want to make snarky posts.

Is the only reason to play for capital is to make a college team? what if you just really enjoy playing lacrosse and being on a good team?

Travel lax is also a requirement if you want to play at a competitive high school. That said, here is the way is typically breaks down:

Cap Blue-- 90% to D1, 10% to D3
Cap Orange -- 10% to DI; 70% to D2/D3 or Opt Out
Stars - 15% to D3
MD DC -- TBD but probably similar to YJ
YJ--25% to D1

Not sure if this helps, but depending on you and your daughters goals, you can plan accordingly.

This is a YJ ad.

Every year, momentum builds behind one team and it's seems like that team is where everyone wants to end up. It was Pride for the 26, Stars for the 27s, Pride again for 28s and last M&DDC.

Try and figure out where there flock is headed.

This isnt a YJ ad and, in reality, no one really cares about those clubs or even where the kids end up. For the most part, but not all its bottom DI, and the kids would probably be better off not playing lax. Sorry if the truth hurts.

I think their parents care, and those girls care... And I don't think they are looking for your approval.

Not everyone is going to play top D1 and not everyone is going to Ivy League and many many kids and families do just fine at a normal college playing a sport they love. I know this is crazy but some of these kids actually love the sport and their parents are supporting their child, and are not doing it to climb a social or economic ladder. The experience of going to school and playing lacrosse for George Mason, American and other "bottom D1s" can still be pretty great.

You have to love the response to the OP question of "what is the next best option?" is "Just give up. Stop playing. You suck."

Says the club director who then asks for $3k in club fees.

OP, my DD was on the bubble for Cap Orange and ended up not making it. She was devastated at the time, but it honestly ended up being a good thing for her.

I would take your DD to try out for the other clubs you listed and see what happens. Find out who the coaches will be for the other clubs, what tournaments they will play, practice schedule, etc. Talk to other families and find out where they plan on going. The club lax world here is small and people talk. If you do that, then, as a PP suggested, you can get most of the girls on the bubble on one team and have good results. My DD ended up on a different club, is committed to a school and program she loves, and has had a great club lax experience (i.e., not toxic!).

That's the best advice on here. Plus it comes with a sprinkle of hope.

Capital did the bubble players a favor by having tryouts early. The players that don't make it can go to the tryouts of the other clubs teams. That's the strategy
