Metropolitan DC Local Politics
Well that’s not your decision to make, is it? Your views aren’t really relevant. Lots of people believe that ATVs need to be addressed and are tired of the white guilt biker bros telling them otherwise. |
|
But my urbanist friends keep guilting me that I moved to Rockville
At least my kids don’t get struck by ATVs and can ride their bicycles peacefully through the neighborhood streets |
Tell me you live in an area of DC unaffected by ATVers without telling me . . . anyone who lives east of Rock Creek Park, and especially in Ward 1 (U Street) and Ward 4 (Georgia Avenue) thinks that the PITA, dangerous, anti-social, inconsiderate, obnoxious and arrogant ATVers ARE a quality of life issue worth addressing. It was a black kid who was critically injured by these jerks. |
Black on black crime doesn’t get any attention. If a white person had been driving the ATV that struck the boy, people would be more interested. |
Ok, what if we had a program that furnished ATV’s to white boys, and encouraged them ride criminally recklessly in the parts of the city where people like you live? Since it would no longer be a uniquely black culture problem, would you THEN support doing something about stopping it? |
If a white kid had been riding it it would’ve been national news and we’d have riots by now if police hadn’t caught him yet. |
Yes, exactly. And frankly we shouldn't tolerate this BS about how an activity like this is appropriate because it helps black people de-stress. An illegal activity doesn't become legal just because you claim that it helps you de-stress. If the council wants to pass a law making it legal, they can do that. Until they do that, this conduct needs to be prosecuted. |
No one cares about black on black crime. Not black churches. Not black politicians. And certainly not white progressives in Bethesda and Arlington. All of them will champion violent men. But never a word about their victims. Progressives are blinded by ideology and can't see a damn thing these days. |
| I fail to see why they can’t address the ATV issue AND other crimes too? Virginia would figure this out quick. Especially if a child was hurt. |
I don’t think the statement on the churches is very fair. |
Because you won't allow DC to raise taxes, enforcement needs to be prioritized. I believe security for the council members is at the top of the list. |
LOL, you think Descano or Parisa would do better? I can't say that I share your optimism on that. The ATV riders have rolled through the streets of Arlington without consequence (https://www.arlnow.com/2024/08/26/bikers-swarm-arlington-rumbling-past-startled-rosslyn-restaurant-patrons/). |
You can very easily chase these dipshits with drones. Even cheap law enforcement drones have the ability to hone in on a target (car/bike) and follow it 'home'. |
I think it's a reasonable criticism of Black churches. They pay lip service to it, sure. And then proceed to whip their congregants to vote for the machine politicians that enable ATV riders to, uh, destress without fear of consequences. |
| I wonder what’s so stressful about their lives? I doubt they have jobs. Is it stressful to play video games all day? |
