No, it sounds like she is someone who understand that true justice doesn’t come from vengeance.

No one has asked for vengeance. We are asking for a functioning government that protects the vulnerable citizens. However, failing that we can give the ten year old a gun to protect himself.

You're talking to the wrong crowd on here. It's not always at the surface, but then one of them tries to drop the N word with different spelling to get around moderation. They're still gross people and not representative of DC.

It's funny how, if this child had been hit by someone driving a car, people would be up in arms and people would say we have to change a million things including completely redesigning the roads to try to make this sort of thing impossible.

But, somehow, when the child is hit by a teenager illegally riding an ATV on a city street, people are like "there's nothing we can do to prevent this"

The car hating zealots at Greater Greater Washington seem totally fine with illegal ATVs on the streets:

"Dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are embraced by some in the Black community as a culture and form of expression, despite laws that forbid their use on all public roadways, sidewalks, and trails.

“Most of the bikers…communicate that riding their bikes is a source of freedom for them. It’s a way for them to address their mental health issues. It’s a way for them to de-stress."

This is a joke, right? Ron Moten is a long, long-time AA activist in DC. He is not a yuppie liberal, and is in fact more conservative than most progressives. What he seems to be suggesting though, is an actual practical solution---designate a space for the ATVers to ride to their hearts content and keep them off the city streets. Though I am not convinced the ATVers would use the carrot without the threat of real enforcement if they didn't.

How would they get to the designated space? Is the government going to provide trailers and taxi service?

I think different towns have sports car meet ups and things like it, but it’s kept to designated spaces. I don’t think DC has the room for it.

Would this be next to the dedicated space where people could shoot illegal guns?

You can drive the sport car on the highway to the meet up because it can be licensed for the highway. That's not the case with dirtbikes and ATVs. That's why this solution is unworkable and lacks any sort of deep thinking associated with problem solving.

I find this to be entirely unexpected, personally. This is a clinically insane response from the mom. It is going to come out the at the father of the kid in her belly was in the ATV mob, I'm sure of it.

Pipe down MAGA.

Seriously where are the mayoral candidates on this? If this child, who has bleeding in the brain and a spinal injury, had been hit by a car, they'd be up in arms.

It's also strange how silent the car haters/WABA crowd is. These kids were on bikes, in a bike lane when they were run over.

Seriously, what is the deal with that?!? The bike lobby is the most reliably strident, annoying, and unapologetically bike-safety-focused advocates going and this hit and run involved kids of all things. Have they really drunk so much of the liberal culture kool aide that they are going to go full hypocrites on safety?

This doesn't advance their anti-car agenda so they don't care if kids on bikes get run over.

Are you a complete moron or do you just play one on here?

Drawing conclusions about the "bike lobby" - if ever there were a bogeyman! - from an out-of-context quote from someone interviewed for an article written by a citizen journalist unaffiliated with an organization that publishes content submitted by people who subscribe to a wide range of viewpoints on issues pertaining to urban planning in the Washington metro region is peak idiocy, even for this forum.

Please point to an instance where bicyclists have expressed outrage about these children on bikes being run over by ATVS because their silence has been deafening, and telling.

I'm a bicyclist and I'm outraged. Happy now? Or would you like to move the goalposts?
