The Greater Greater Washington is cyclists' Bible, and this is what is says about illegal ATVS on city streets:

"Dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are embraced by some in the Black community as a culture and form of expression, despite laws that forbid their use on all public roadways, sidewalks, and trails.

“Most of the bikers…communicate that riding their bikes is a source of freedom for them. It’s a way for them to address their mental health issues. It’s a way for them to de-stress."

My car is a demonstration of my culture and a form of expression for me. It helps with my mental health and helps me de-stress. Coincidentally, I've heard the same thing from the drivers who have hundreds of thousands in outstanding camera tickets.

How do the anti-bike crazies manage to make everything about themselves and their weird psychological disorder?

Why are the pro-bike people so depraved and psychologically disturbed that they don't care about a child being seriously hurt by illegal ATVs?

Cars receive tickets not drivers.

Pipe down MAGA.

Seriously where are the mayoral candidates on this? If this child, who has bleeding in the brain and a spinal injury, had been hit by a car, they'd be up in arms.

It's also strange how silent the car haters/WABA crowd is. These kids were on bikes, in a bike lane when they were run over.

Seriously, what is the deal with that?!? The bike lobby is the most reliably strident, annoying, and unapologetically bike-safety-focused advocates going and this hit and run involved kids of all things. Have they really drunk so much of the liberal culture kool aide that they are going to go full hypocrites on safety?

Nice job completely misrepresenting the entire article and slandering GGWash.

The second sentence is a quote from a photojournalist, you nincompoop. Using your wonderful summary technique, one could claim - with equal validity - that GGWash believes that illegal ATVs "cause a lot of trouble for drivers and pedestrians." and that "something should be done about them".

It's a sad indictment of the silliness of some of those who post on this board that they bought into your crap.

The same reason that there are people driving around with hundreds of thousands in outstanding camera tickets in the same reason that illegal ATVs are allowed to terrorize and severely injure other road users and that is the same reason that deaths on DC roads are up 400% this year.

Well, whatever. i don't care if it's black culture or rich white kids on electric motorcycles or hispanics in muscle cars. They're all a&^holes and should be arrested and in jail. It'd be very nice if our politicians and judges could get on it.

You misunderstand completely. No one likes ATVs or to see a child hurt. But the reality is that there are enough other quality of life issues to address in DC first. I’m not interested in picking on something that’s unique to Black and brown kids when there are a million other things we could deal with first.

Um you realize it was a black kid injured by the ATV right? I hope you are trolling.

I feel the same way about everything on the pro-bike agenda (including vision zero). So many things that are a much higher priority.

Like crime?

If you really care about black and brown kids, you would know they are frequently the victims in these cases. I just read Jahari's Go Fund Me. Earlier in the week, a gun was held to his head by a teenager and his personal scooter was stolen. Then the accident a few days later.

Start supporting black/brown kids like Jahari. Give them the opportunity to have a childhood free of crime. And yes, that means getting other black/brown kids who are too far gone off the streets.

Well that’s not your decision to make, is it? There is a strong constituency that wants to bike and walk safely so your view isn’t really relevant. and of course you’re just lying about the “higher priority” concept. You irrationally hate bikes because it makes you mad that you did not personally agree to a bike lane or whatever.
