Metropolitan DC Local Politics
Maybe politicians should actually show interest in and address the issues affecting black Americans instead of just being in glee that the incident might move votes |
That statement is illogical because it assumes two situations are automatically equivalent without proving the connection. It treats opposition to trans people using a bathroom as the same as racial segregation at water fountains. This is a false equivalence. The two issues are historically, socially, and legally different, but the argument collapses them into one as if they are interchangeable. By skipping over the differences and insisting “can’t you see how wrong this is,” it relies on emotional appeal rather than reasoning. Instead of demonstrating why the situations are the same, it simply declares them so, which makes the comparison logically flawed. |
So black women who are offended at the sign are only allowed to talk about this for how many minutes? Let me know so I can write the time down so I know my place. |
Well said. |
How many times have you posted about it? Are you the anti-trans poster? |
You are with us or against us, the exact threat expressed by the sign. |
Yes. https://democraticwomenscaucus.house.gov/issues/economic-opportunity |
Those are the two options. Time to put on your big girl pants and deal with it. The woman made a mistake. What do you want to happen next? Give fuel to the POS Republicans? |
But the intersection on Venn diagram of misogyny + racism almost overlaps completely. |
MAGA is flooding the zone right now. It’s hard to get anything meaningful right now. I hope the Dems will address how black women are being unfairly targeted right now because of racism. It may not be fair to ask for time, but Dem Congress is taxed. DC right now is under threat, literally. Dems are triggered, scared, and exhausted. |
I don't understand what you are asking, not trying to snarky, I mean it really, so please explain if you don't mind. |
Yes, its not fair. And its is insulting to. If the Dems can make the time to rescue an illegal immigrant from his home country, they can make time to address the issues of black women. |
+1. Her name is out there. Her career as a paid sign making granny is likely over. |
But at this point who says the Republicans are any worse than the Democrats? If Democrats only, and I mean only, care about immigrants, trans people, and gay people, why can't I assume they don't just see black people as a nuisance? |
