There is a lot of tribalism going on here, e.g. this woman is on my side so I am going to contort myself to take the most innocuous interpretation possible, regardless of how facially ridiculous that take is. I don’t think it’s at all honest. The fact is that there is a reasonable chance this lady might in fact be a raging racist who sees a Black woman and immediately jumps to a Jim Crow threat. That’s what it looks like, frankly. And it’s okay to be honest about that.

Occam's Razor. This is a woman who is motivated to be a political event, supporting the Democratic candidate, and is concerned about trans rights. The intersection on the Venn diagram of trans rights advocates + rabid racists has to be infintesimally small.

The sign? Racist. The creator of the sign? Likely not, but so intense in her extreme left wing values that she did not even consider that when she wrote it.

Do you know what is racist about the sign? She is comparing the trans movement to the civil rights movement. She has not considered that this is apples and oranges.
The trans movement--at best--is based on something that is, in the opinion of many, child abuse. (This protest was about "trans children." Adults can do as they please, but please stay out of locker rooms.
The science behind it is flawed and Europe is now walking back their support of it.

The civil rights movement was based on human rights. Big difference.
In fact, the trans movement is, in the opinion of many, trampling the human rights of others--particularly women's right to privacy.

You are blind to some of the history of very ugly racism in the Democratic Party, I think. I see no reason whatsoever to assume this woman isn’t a rabid racist. The fact is that she showed up to a rally against a Black female candidate with a sign that she’d never have shown to a white male candidate. Occam’s Razor here dictates that she is a rabid racist, not that she is not one, based on her own actions.

Just because you personally like her stance on trans rights doesn’t mean you should leave your brain behind. The evidence here is not favorable. (And it is bizarre to take the stance that somehow supporting trans rights makes one magically antiracist.)

This situation right here is why I hate both parties and politics. The sign is offensive and wrong in so many ways. Everyone should know it is, it’s 2025 for crying out loud.
