Everyone, please comment on Bezos' piece in WaPo!

Hopefully, more activist layoffs are incoming. Bezos, I would recommend consulting with Musk on the correct approach.

You need to stop watching 24/7 news channels. It’s trash and rarely allows room for in depth analysis of issues.

You also need to learn about the role of the editorial board.

https://www.axios.com/2024/10/30/washington-post-subscriber-cancellations-endorsements-bezos

250K subscribers canceled. 10% of subscribers.

I can't find the post where someone was laughing about it being "only 1000" the first day.

Bezos already knows how to lose $40B. Why would he need Musk's help?

While nothing is as bad as Fox, NPR and the WaPo are getting pretty close. Both are so pro Kamala, there stories are almost read like their campaign created it. I can't htink of one critical piece that the WaPo published. Ditto with NPR.

To get balance, I have had to turn to other news sources, such as the WSJ, FT and BBC. Maybe that is why the WaPo has lost so many subscribers since 2020.

BTW, I am a Democrat, not a Maga loving trump supporter.

NPR just posted an article boosting Republican nonsense claiming that calling Puerto "garbage" isn't bad, but calling that insult "garbage" is bad.

His reasoning is bullshit. Don't say Democracy Dies in Darkness on top of your paper and then turn off the lights right before the elections.

Man I'm a liberal and think this is nonsense. This is why we are a country dumb as rocks and so divided. This is why the the Left has critics.

To cancel your newspaper subscription because it didn't endorse the candidate you wanted them to. Good god, really? You'll cost someone their job, the decisions been made, you're not punishing Bezos by this, you're putting an end to the Post. This is just nonsense.

So cut off your nose to spite your face.

This is why it's such a close election. I'm pro choice anti MAGA and a female DEI and have no problem with Bezos' decision. I know who I am and what I believe in and I don't vote or get swayed by any paper who would endorse any candidate. This is what people mean by being waaaaay out of control to the Left.

Be sensible, logical and a bit less emotional but practical. Worry about yourself and look at the impact not what you deem to be right or wrong in the heat of the moment. This is punishing journalists on YOUR side. The Post is a hugely liberal left leaning paper. If you are a Dem why would you want it to go out?!

Bezos owns it but that's it. This is a big decision but he's not printing pro Maga stuff every day so get off your high horse and be sensible. It's a business decision at worse and a philosophical one at best, and if you can't understand that, you are a fool.

I don't know if you understand this story. The editorial board did want to endorse Harris and they wrote an endorsement but the owner refused to let them publish it. People don't subscribe to the post because they want to know bezos's opinions. They subscribe to the post because they respect the reporting and the editorial board that he has in place. If they're not going to get that, why should they read the paper?

And you don't need to agree with reporting to respect it by the way. You could read a quality conservative publication like the economist or something and respect the reporting without necessarily agreeing with all of it.

WaPo rarely allows room for in depth analysis. They rarely even cite their sources for their opinionated news and the overwhelming amount of opinion pieces they push above the news.

People do subscribe because they want Bezos's opinions. His opinions on news reporting and op/ed. After all, he controls the reporting and op/ed.
And when they don't like those opinions, they cance subscription and stop reading.

All you lefties sound like a 5 year old having a temper tantrum. The Post endorsing a candidate or not endorsing a candidate has no effect on an election. Journalists, who are supposed to be objective and not be part of the story should keep their politics to themselves if they want to be thought of as such. But we all know the Post’s reporting is extraordinarily biased in favor of Dems which is why the employees and subscribers are losing their minds over this meaningless gesture bc they fear the Post might actually try to be objective.

Only room for one activist at each company?

The endorsement is done by the editorial board and appears on the opinion pages. It's like you've never actually read a newspaper, but you seem to have a lot of opinions about them.
