Just came out an hour ago, his ridiculous non-excuse for shutting down endorsements a week before a very consequential election.

Reads like it was written by committee. Some good points. A lot of defensiveness. |
I found it compelling.
As he states, the media profession is the least trusted of all. Below Congress. |
Who cares? |
I agree with what was written 100%.
Idiots who cancel their subscriptions to WaPo and even Amazon over this are being obtuse. |
+1 And I absolutely despise Trump. |
Agreed. |
Maybe he could hire some actual Republicans to write news articles. |
Their endorsements have been Kerry, Obama, Obama, Clinton, Biden.
It gets worse across the news industry. Go look. https://noahveltman.com/endorsements/ |
I trust billionaires even less than the media |
And he is a main reason why |
This is only compelling to the extent you believe it's true. I'm sure there was no "quid pro quo," but I also don't think for a second that a he's not thinking about the potential business consequences of a Harris endorsement under a Trump presidency.
Ultimately, though, to me, it's a bad call for the owner to override the editorial board regardless of why. It makes the Washington Post less trustworthy, not more, totally independent of anything to do with Trump. |
That's not saying much when billionaires own and control the media LOL. |
I don’t believe him when he said there was no quid pro quo.
Like one the commenters said: Bezos himself has fascist tendencies. Look how he treats his workers - unsafe conditions, impossible performance metrics, repetitive injuries, peeing in bottles in their delivery vehicle, etc. He and Trump are peas in a pod. Even through Trump trying to blackmail Bezos and blowing up his marriage, Bezos resisted. But now he’s finally bent the knee. |
Agreed. And I’m totally fine with the editorial board making a decision to not endorse. |
