Trump, himself, is strong with union members. I think he also knows where his bread is buttered - with male working class voters. However the rank and file R’s in the US Chamber of Commerce are calling for the invocation of the Taft-Hartley act to end the strike immediately. If Trump became president I really don’t think the entire R party would suddenly become pro organized labor - it’s far more likely that Trump would fall in line and that his current words are just lip service.

This strike is not about concessions or members salaries, it is about inflicting pain on the US economy on the eve of the election.

Trump released a statement a few hours ago which stated that the union should be allowed to negotiate. That is the same as Biden's position.

Last week Trump was saying that he would fire striking workers and replace them with scabs.
