All silly, pointless questions. Is there free will in heaven? If I am god why would I make anyone want to do horrible things? I’m frickin’ GOD. I can make it all perfect. Can’t I? |
More silliness. I am GOD. There are no fires thus no need for firefighters. Food will be plentiful and natural. Sure, why not magic refrigerators? Why can’t I do that? Why can’t I make it that way? |
So everyone can’t get their way is what you are saying. And so God in your view picks and chooses who to help? And sometimes lets pediatric cancer patients die. Which is why many of us say “that’s not a god worth following”. |
Can’t I make 100,000 universes and make each the president of the US? And why can’t I give people the ability to turn themselves into whatever they want? Tigers, hedgehogs, rutabagas, whatever? |
God did create that utopia you guys are thinking about. That was Eden. The problem was, humans were not satisfied with it and wanted more. Deep down, you and I all know that we would never be satisfied. So God is teaching us about what is really important, communion with him, not satisfying our own bottomless appetites. |
I suggest you atheist actually think about what you are saying. Will you ever be satisfied? No. It doesn't stop at pediatric cancer. Humans will always want more. Also consider the hubris in trying to think you as a mere human can design a better existence.
Ultimately you only have two choices. Either decide that there is no God and everything is random and live with the consequences of that conclusion, or accept that there is a God but he clearly places more importance on something beyond our earthly comfort. Then if you really care to, figure out what God wants yourself. I honestly don't think it is that hard for anyone who is willing to pursue the question honestly. |
Well, God doesn't want zombies or robots. He wants freely thinking and loving humans made in his image and nature. His nature is ultimately self giving. Name one person in real life who grew up in a perfect bubble with everything handed to him but who is self giving and generous and humble. You might take issue with how things are set up but that is just how reality works. That is who God is and how he operates. He wants us to be great and won't settle for less. You can be pissed at him and think that all the worldly suffering is just not worth it, that you didn't choose to be born and have to go through all this for the possibility of heaven. Plenty of people have been similarly mad at God. But it's pretty useless, imo. God has set up the world this way and you will have to go through this life regardless of whether you believe in him or not. At least with faith you have hope and you have someone (God) who has promised to walk with you. |
So is pediatric cancer the worst suffering in your mind? If that were eliminated, then you would probably focus on the next worst suffering right? And how do you know that there wasnt something way worse than pediatric cancer from which God has spared us? |
What are you talking about, zombies and robots? I didn’t say anything about that. I’m god, i saiid I would make it perfect. Can’t I do that? |
It’s humans who prolonged that child’s suffering with modern medicine. |
Does that explain the suffering of children? |
I have heard only two reasons why pediatric cancer is an OK thing: 1) suffering is a noble way to deepen faith 2) suffering is a result of free will and a "consequence" of that I am probing those explanations and find that they do not explain pediatric cancer. Personally, I would find a way to eliminate suffering entirely IF I were a benevolent and loving omnipotent God. But the point here is that no reason at all has been given that could explain why pediatric cancer would exist EVEN accepting those rationales. |
The mental gymnastics on this thread… |
So when people want to rape, murder, sexually abuse other humans, animals, etc, how will you deal with that? |
I honestly can’t believe I am being asked these questions. It’s kinda sick, or sickening at least. I am frickin’ GOD. Why would I create anyone who wanted to do those things? |
