So in your view, God should exist to please us? Keep us safe, happy, help us achieve our desires?
Yes. That’s what I would do if I were God and loved people. Wouldn’t you? Wouldn’t you heal those children if you could?
Would you make everyone a millionaire too? And make everyone happy 24/7/365?
Sure if i had the power. Why not?
Do these millionaires have free will? What if torturing animals makes someone happy? What if having sex with kids makes someone happy? What if someone spends all their money doing meth, are you going to add millions more to their bank account?
This whole exchange is a red herring. The topic of this post was pediatric cancer- so suffering the consequences of free will or "value" of suffering to prove faith arguments do not apply. Whether or not a God would allow "torturing of animals" to make people happy, at a minimum, a loving omnipotent God would not give innocent children cancer, or allow pediatric cancer to exist.
So is pediatric cancer the worst suffering in your mind? If that were eliminated, then you would probably focus on the next worst suffering right? And how do you know that there wasnt something way worse than pediatric cancer from which God has spared us?
I have heard only two reasons why pediatric cancer is an OK thing: 1) suffering is a noble way to deepen faith 2) suffering is a result of free will and a "consequence" of that I am probing those explanations and find that they do not explain pediatric cancer. Personally, I would find a way to eliminate suffering entirely IF I were a benevolent and loving omnipotent God. But the point here is that no reason at all has been given that could explain why pediatric cancer would exist EVEN accepting those rationales.
