The PD video teachers must watch on Monday

I’m a parent and I think I’m going to email the board of Ed about his nonsense. Teachers, if there are other examples I can use please let me know. I think all the parents on here should do similar. Teachers, I encourage you all the email your MCEA reps. I know two excellent teachers that have taken LOA recently to do a stint with MCEA so I think they must have at least some people that understand these issues.

Please do not spare us the specific feedback. I'm dying to hear the biting commentary!

This is the type of propaganda that is meant to make teachers feel bad for not donating more work time for free for misbehaving miscreants. The fact that the union or admin doesn't get off their fat button and support teachers is pathetic. Also, it's a way that they can give all misbehavior a pass and if a teacher manages with consequences everyone can call them racist, homophopic, insensitive etc. It gives blame for teachers not being good enough. Then the system will blame them, give teachers negative consequences, non renew them, lie to dllr unemployment etc. It's a broken system and the people that broke it are running it without any accountability.

If it's hosted on YouTube, it gets ads. That's how the platform is financed.

No, it’s at the discretion of the video owner. The owner of this video CHOSE to put ads, to monetize their video. Completely jerk move.

Ads are at the discretion of YouTube, even if the uploader doesn't request ads. The video uploader can choose whether to ask for a share of any ad revenue.

Please stop using facts to contradict my false narrative.

Parents please also write to the board about the use of Remind. Most teachers HATE it (some do love it) but we should have the OPTION to use it to bother parents, not be forced to have to use it. There's too much they want us to use/do/implement, all while worrying about test scores and not addressing behaviors...it is a total mess right now.

This. Parents also if you get a seemingly pointless Remind message it's because we didn't meet our quota and have to use it in order to avoid admin conflicts. This is no way a district should be run. McKnight NEEDS to go.

It's racist to teach people about actions having consequences. But if you are a teacher and you report crime in the classroom there definitely is consequences. You can lose your job for not looking the other way.

Kids will find out the hard way when the go to jail for treating cops and society like teachers and school. Teachers just want to teach before that happens but our hands are tied.

I know i know Karen you get paid to squash teachers telling truths about their experiences. You must be very proud of yourself and your organization that operates this way. You truly are an MCPS Karen who will stick it to all the teachers out there.

You know what....great point. This directly conflicts with teachers mandated reporter status. You're totally right....

Can you show me one example of where MCPS states this policy or is this just some fiction you like to tell others?

It's in the PD video that was referenced in the first post on this page that MCPS is sharing in mandated training today....

At minute 19:00 it discusses the importance of needs being met of students. However teachers live everyday with needs going unmet. Students without supplies that we are suppose to spend hundreds of dollars a week on...our low salaries. Violence and crime in the class- we get no help or support from principals. We are constantly under the microscope to be fired for grading fairly and treating students fairly. So WE TEACHERS are basically systematically poor, without safety, without proper sleep and selfcare as we are poached for double unpaid overtime; having our meager jobs threatened by admin around every corner etc. When we don't give crime and violence a free pass every 5 seconds because we want to manage our classrooms and teach. Admin will try to ruin our careers for stepping in and doing their job for them. This is the sad state of US Education. It harms the good kids who want to learn more that anything. The good kids used to be the majority. But calling behavioral education racist taught the kids there are no behavioral standards.
