Is something wrong with Mitch McConnell?

It really is remarkable. It just goes to show what a drug power is. It's sick.
That was almost comical at the end of the clip where the aide said what's your next question, "and speak up," like that was the problem. Watching his aides scramble to cover for him is sick. Him standing up there is sick. The power hoarding is sick. Our whole system is sick where this is the result.

Absolutely not because Feinstein’s leaving would disable the judiciary committee. McConnell as leader is not on any committees.

No it's not sad, it's infuriating that there are not measures in place that force our elected officials to step down when they are clearly unable to do the job they were elected for. There should be laws that prevent 80 year olds from getting elected in the first place. I'm also sure he has access to the best health care in the country, something many of his fellow elderly Kentuckians can only dream of.

Agree for the most part. I'm not 100% convinced yet that there should be Federal laws to ban people 80 and over from being eligible but without term limits being part of this equation, perhaps a law is necessary. I do think there are many people in there 70s and 80s that are still capable of performing the duties of high ranking government officials but in many cases you have to wonder how people in their 70s or 80s can possibly be the best options we have to serve in these very important Federal Government positions.

Is Mitch just intent to die in front of everyone at a press conference? Bc that is where this is heading.

When he regains lucidity (if???) - does he watch these videos? They’re terrifying.

Mitch is a vile human but my god I would have thought he had even a tiny bit of self respect to not keep doing this in front of crows and TVs.

Isn't the fact that she's a vegetable itself disabling to the committee?

No.

He will be happy going out in the saddle.

Hit submit too soon. No, and I would vastly prefer that she retire and the Republicans allow the Democrats to replace her on the committee, but they have indicated that they will not.

Of course he's too old and needs to have a seat. Are Republicans saying otherwise or are you fighting with the monsters in your head again?

Has any Republican official said he should retire? Publicly? Not that I have read.

Republican here.

He needs to step down. One episode like this was alarming. But, another indicates that there is an ongoing problem.
For his own health, he needs to retire.
So does Feinstein.

Age discrimination is illegal. Who are you to the people of Kentucky who may, or may not, run for elective office in their state?

Actually there are age restrictions in place, you can't run for the senate until you're 30, 35 for president. I don't think it's outside the realm of possibilities that a law is passed requiring people to retire by a certain age.

The problem was evident years ago when he had black hands.

I really thought the first one was a bathroom accident. Now that I've seen the second one, there's a serious neurological issue.
Of course, I have no support for him as a legislator- his behavior, over the last 7 years, has been unconscionable, but on a human level, I was very alarmed and I have a lot of empathy for him. I do think he, and Feinstein need to retire, absolutely. For us, but also for themselves.

Basically Republicans have made sure Feinstein can't retire. It's terrible.

McConnell seems like he's in a better place to make that choice for himself - and he isn't being held hostage, either, like Republicans are doing to Feinstein.

I just think candidates and legislators need to show they are capable, regardless of age. There are infirmed younger people, as well older people - but it's not a forgone conclusion that they aren't able to serve. Pelosi was a powerhouse, still is.
