Is something wrong with Mitch McConnell?

Of course, I have no support for him as a legislator- his behavior, over the last 7 years, has been unconscionable, but on a human level, I was very alarmed and I have a lot of empathy for him. I do think he, and Feinstein need to retire, absolutely. For us, but also for themselves.

Basically Republicans have made sure Feinstein can't retire. It's terrible.

McConnell seems like he's in a better place to make that choice for himself - and he isn't being held hostage, either, like Republicans are doing to Feinstein.

Feinstein likely isn't even aware she's being held hostage, to be honest.

It really is remarkable. It just goes to show what a drug power is. It's sick.
That was almost comical at the end of the clip where the aide said what's your next question, "and speak up," like that was the problem. Watching his aides scramble to cover for him is sick. Him standing up there is sick. The power hoarding is sick. Our whole system is sick where this is the result.

Again, Feinstein isn’t leaving because the GOP is effectively holding her hostage. “Our whole system” isn’t sick, the GOP is.

Moscow Mitch has no excuse.

You're probably right. It's horrible - and they are doing it right out in the open. The "pro life" party, torturing and humiliating an old woman for kicks and lolz.

He needs to step down. One episode like this was alarming. But, another indicates that there is an ongoing problem.
For his own health, he needs to retire.
So does Feinstein.

The problem was evident years ago when he had black hands.

I forgot about that. Can you imagine being so owned and so drunk on power and money, you’d continue to work in your last days even though you’re rich with the best insurance possible?

Truly, I hope I live long enough for the true story of what the hell happened to the GOP to be revealed. Obviously they have been corrupt for decades - Nixon’s treason with Vietnam, for one - but they went from crazy to off the rails.

The GOP is forcing feinstein to stay in office which is inhumane on so many levels..... You wonder what they're doing to Mitch?

At this point he didn't even be able to get a job as a Walmart greeter yet he is in a position to make laws affecting millions of Americans.

Only one party cares about democracy and it is not the Republicans. Sad because I used to be on

Who watches that and says “one more question”. Unreal. I guess they know they’re not mini strokes. He must do this all the time.

Wasn't McConnell behind the need for the Democrats to keep Feinstein in office?

If I were a family member of either McConnell or Feinstein I would not give a rat’s @ss about the political game being played, and in fact I might go public with the fact that my elderly and infirm relative is being used in this way. It’s a form of elder abuse.

Yes. It is.

The leader of the GOP is Trump, and Trump doesn’t like Mitch.

The Dems are the ones forcing Feinstein to stay in office. That is inhumane on so many levels.
And, then we can talk about Fetterman and his cognitive issues....
Not to mention Biden himself.
So, you really don't have a lot of room to talk.

There is ZERO evidence that the GOP is "forcing" Mitch to remain.

F off with that crap. Feinstein needs to stay and do her duty. She knew what she was signing up for. The republicans have destroyed and debased the judiciary and the democrats are going to right the ship. If that means carting Diane in “weekend at Bernie’s”style, so be it.
Cry more about Fetterman. Get used to it, because he’s gonna be there awhile.

You are talking about an elderly, frail and sick woman. She owes you nothing. WTF is wrong with people?!

I’ll tell you what’s wrong with me, these old aholes loved the money and power and they couldn’t be persuaded to do the right thing. Neither one of them had seats that were in danger. They could have graciously stepped aside. So no, I don’t give a rat’s ass about her dignity or discomfort. Their generation has just about wrecked this democracy. She needs to get her boney ass up there and vote a she’s told.
Mitch can honestly drop dead. The world would be better for it, and the only thing I’ll be sad about, is that it didn’t happen 15 years ago.

That's actually a fair point. She was 85 when she last won election, which would put her at 91 when her term finishes out. She needs to deal with the consequences.

And people wonder how there are so many disaffected voters in this country disillusioned with both parties.

My question is...is there a minimum amount of time that this person must be a member of the Republican party? Can Beshear's preferred pick switch their registration to R so that they now qualify for appointment?

Damn good question!!
