If you're a right wing conservative and anti trans then I guess the new rules are perfectly fine.

I'm neither, but women's rights don't get trumped by biological boys who don't want to compete against other biological boys.

Mom of a straight cis girl here. I don't think she wants to share the girls bathroom with trans boys who everyone considers to be boys. What about her rights?

+1 there are moms here in VA that are listening to their girls at home say they don't want to have to change a pad or tampon with a biological boy in the next stall or have to change clothes with them in the locker room. These girls have rights too.

There were a lot of white girls uncomfortable with sharing a bathroom with black girls too. Sometimes things make us uncomfortable but that doesn't mean that it is wrong or we should make laws banning it.

Well said. Maybe moms should be working with their daughters to be more comfortable with the natural functioning of their bodies. Periods are nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about.

Well don't worry soon they will try to change policies on that too.

It must be exhausting to be so afraid of everything all of the time.

Except for guns. They’re not afraid of guns.

Why can't we get emails about FCPS and strong academics surrounding STEM and preparing our children for AI, everything is equity LGBTQ+ abortions etc this isn't what we need to learn in school.

Because people are actively trying to legislate against abortion rights and LGBTQ+ people. When people start to legislate against STEM I’m sure we’ll see a reaction. Schools don’t exist in a vacuum. It’s a small community. Issues can’t just be left at the schoolhouse door.

It's not FCPS responsibility to talk about legislation agree/disagreements they are to follow what is told by VDOE and focus on education not social issues.

Well they are so terrified that at any moment they are going to be a victim of crime that they need their gun! Crime is around every corner just waiting to traffick them.

correct focus on things that are not opinion based, like math, science etc. raising kids and their sexual orientation isn't a school matter.

By the state passing and adopting these policies, VDOE and schools are forced to address social issues.

And name me one time in American history that the public school's mission was simply to educate. You can't.

They were founded to produce and educated citizenry, and over time, the social and civic issues in schools have changed/evolved with society, but they have never been a place where you just go to read and write and do math problem.

But school doesn't exist in a social vacuum. From the moment kids enter school they are learning social skills socialization. I mean if anything closing for 1.5 years taught us that! Kids need schools to learn all of that stuff. They also use school to learn how to be humans.

If public school was not to educate but to push liberal stuff then it explains why we have so many idiots running around and weirdos

One size doesn't fit all, my kids is going to major in STEM not liberal starbucks arts, so the later shouldnt be the focus for public school as it discreminates against the ones seeking a STEM education

It’s not emotional blackmail, it’s statistics. I understand they are not comfortable to absorb but that isn’t blackmail. LGBTQ teens commit suicide at rates much, much higher than their cis straight peers . The world is cruel to them.

Threatening self harm when you don't get your way is tactic of manipulation used by abusers. Same thing here.

If a kid threaten self harm they need medical help and support.....SOMETHING ONLY THEIR PARENTS CAN PROVIDE.

Seriously? You think parents of suicidal teens are equipped to provide the medical treatment they need? You do realize parents can't prescribe anti-depressants, unless they're an MD? And parents don't have the training for mental health counseling?

Sometimes it is better to be thought a fool instead speaking and proving you are one.
No sweetheart, parents are the only people that are legally responsible for a minor's medical care. YOU cannot take a STUDENT that is NOT YOUR child (its awful that I have to remind you of this) through a mental health crisis such as suicide ideation.
If these kids are so medically fragile that they threaten self harm if someone doesn't "affirm" their identity, then it is up to the parents to intervene. NOT YOU.

I hate this racist talking point! Black women are not men! It’s not the same
